Had a strut making a lot of noise, so I replaced both fronts today.

While I has the cowl off, I went ahead and replaced the 4 spark plugs.

Seems like typical 120k maintenance, plus with the help of youtube, it was a breeze. 20210313_131125.jpg 20210313_123114.jpg

I definitely need to with my milage, but this was enough work for me today.

Having taken the cowl off twice now, once before to install the Cusco strut tower brace, it's pretty easy. It's just a pain.

Replacement engine is on the stand. Tore off the timing chain cover and valve cover. Getting ready to reseal both oil pans and a new rear seal put in place. Replace the orings and reseal the timing chain cover, replace orings in the oil filter adapter. Rplace valve gaskets. Hook everything back up.

My driver's side was making a ton of noise (rubbing/squeeking), and you change them in pairs, so absolutely.

Also, my ride got more comfortable, the shocks had definitely worn out.

I was on the same boat but started with small things. Haven’t slapped anything on yet due to weather tho. Aftermarket drls, fogs, lip kit, coilovers are a good start

Finally put a cat shield on. Got the Auto Defender because it's quite a bit cheaper than the others. Did a combo of riv nuts and rivets. The rear shield probably isn't helping but it came with so on it went. And i know the shield won't stop a determined thief but hopefully any would be thieves will just move on to an easier target. Also added some adhesive foam weather strips to prevent any rattling. Bit of a pain to install but only because of limited space under the car. On a lift it would be a breeze.

I tried both, Oxy and oven cleaner. Since my cooler was totally clogged, 5 rinses with Oxy did not do the job. I even poked the passages with wire and it would still bend. Then I tried the oven cleaner from Dollar General and it only took two applications and rinsing to clean it. You must wear gloves or it will burn your skin though. It was a lot more effective than Oxy. I sun dried the cooler and blew compressed air afterwards. Very pleased with the results.

Oven cleaner is wonderful! I used it on my RD350 to decarbonize it.
Next time, since it shouldn't be so clogged, use a pressure washer. That will clear it out.
Then the oven cleaner with clean it out, using the pressure was to rinse it out.

It also helps to have a spare cooler. :)

Gen 4 -esque DIY Wireless charging mat for $20

    IMG_20210324_102013.jpeg

Super easy to do, here's the charger I used: hooks directly into the 12v system

    https://m.aliexpress.com/item/1005001309582598.html?trace=wwwdetail2mobilesitedetail&spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.61de4c4d5GqtfV

I took out the bolt below the cloth mat and just sent the wires right through there, no drilling required. Then I quite simply stuck the leads into the 12v connector that plugs into the cigarette adapter

Hot glued the charger straight to the bottom, and then bought a sheet of foam from the dollar store $1.50. cut out a nice border so the cloth would sit even over top of the charger.

And done! I wanted to make this project as simple and as factory original as possible. PXL_20210313_003148984.jpeg PXL_20210313_002633921.jpeg PXL_20210321_044951561.jpeg PXL_20210324_012716475.jpeg

My project today was to replace the cartridge oil filter with a spin on oil filter. While there I also changed the trans fluid. The spin on oil filter mod was pretty easy as I have access to a lift. I also removed the front right wheel as that made it that much simpler. Good mod.

Wasn't today, but did a few things this year. Things. I think I'm nearing the end of modding the Prius soonish. A few more things planned.

Threw in extra pics from the shoot. 20210324_173701.jpg 20210324_173817~2.jpg 20210324_165239.jpg 20210324_170800.jpg
