I took the day off (and she got off early). We went to Todai and later went to the movies.

We have a sick cat so there wasn't much more we could do.

Is that really a present for her? Or is it like Homer Simpsons' present to Marge on her birthday--remember that one...the bowling ball, sized for him, with his name on it.

6 years of marriage and already out of the sweet gift buying phase.
For dinner, we went to a hole-in-the-wall Mexican place where they know us by name. Afterwards, we discussed going to an ice cream place for desert but decided that we had all the makings for banana splits at home. On the way home, however, she remembered that we finished the chocolate syrup. So we stopped at the grocery store to get some. As we were walking out to our car, she laughed and said, "do you realize that we just went to the grocery store and bought a bottle of chocolate syrup - on Valentine's Day!"

And it only went on ice cream. :(

It really IS for her, though neither of us will drive it much. :) She now has two cars, and I have.... none.

Well.... Not sure it completely counts as a Valentine's gift, but I did put a deposit down on a Highlander Hybrid on VD and picked it up today..and it is for my wife!

Whoa dude, sat in one of them the other month and they are huge! Liked the leather seats but missed the large computer screen.

We got the model with NAV, so it has the same screen as the Prius. It's a nice car, nice quiet ride and we were getting 26mpg by the end of the day (not that that means anything at this point).

Wife and I just don't believe in this "made up" holiday. She is worse than I am....I can't completely ignore it. I got nothing, she got an American Greetings e-card. Well....I guess I shouldn't say I got "nothing"..........................(XXXOOO)

    Cranberry Plants!

My wife loves cranberries which are usually imported into the UK. I found a garden centre selling packs of plants which we've put in our garden, with luck we'll have interesting plants and a small crop of home produced berries.

Previous Valentine Day gifts are also thriving in various parts of thre garden as permanent reminders of our feeling for each other during our 37 years marriage.

LOL - we don't really do much for Valentines day, but we got each other cards ("Valentines Day with Dinosaurs: I love the little scream filled ones!") and he got me the most god awful redneck gift ever, and I love it: a chocolate bar shaped like a fish (painted prettily) that says "You're a Keeper"

    =)

How great is it to be married to your best friend?

Well... I got exactly what I asked for... which was nothing, and couldn't be happier.

I don't do purely hallmark holidays. If the romance has left the relationship, you don't need a special holiday for it. He does enough for me when see get to see each other.
