    I was going to take the course in Bonaire, but made the mistake of admitting that my grandfather died of heart attack, and my dad had heart bypass surgery. So they demanded a doctor's note before they'd let me dive. In Playa Del Carmen I had other activities. Some day, maybe. But mainly I like snorkeling. I'm entirely happy snorkeling, and have never felt an especially strong need to scuba.

    No, I was not congested the day I did the hard-hat dive. I know how to equalize. I just had to keep doing it over and over. Each time I did it I felt okay for a quarter of a minute or so.

    I truly understand. I have gone diving (should not have) when I was a little congested and it just really didn't ever feel right...thought that might have been the problem. My wife just doesn't want to take a scuba course, but will snorkel all day...so...we snorkel!! I saw somethinig last year where they take 2 or 3 tanks on an inflatable raft and hook up a bunch of regulators on an octo, on a very long air line...you kind-of snorkel but you have air if you want to go down 10-15 feet and swim a while.. that looks fun, too. Didn't mean to get this far off subject..sorry..just had to comment on the great picture.

    I have seen what you describe, except that they basically stayed down while the air lasted. They called that "snuba," which is why I'm reluctant to use the term for hard-hat diving. To me, the word "snuba" implies something similar to scuba: mask, mouthpiece, regulator, but on a captive air line, rather than with a self-contained tank. Hard-hat diving is older than scuba, and what I did was hard-hat diving, even though the hose was short, for the shallow dive, and the hard hat was plastic.

    I posted that back in Jan or Feb. Its in the past, isn't it? Its one of those things where you post something, then wish you hadn't 10mins later. But someone already picked it up and ran with it.. :mellow:

    AR-15s are fun to shoot. I've got one. Much cheaper with a .22 adapter though. The M249 and M60 are more fun to shoot but harder to clean. That and I never got to spend much time on an MG range. :(

    The best though, is the Mk19. Those are a blast (literally) to fire.

    Sorry for the delay in replying, but, yes, that is Babe, the blue ox. Picture taken in Brainerd at the southern end of the bike path whose name escapes me at the moment. And no I'm not many times the size of Babe.

    Naw. That's too much bloody work! Yeah, it's a very cool place. When we came down there were folks just hanging out on the shore (the location from where the photo was taken). My decent was pretty spectacular. After stopping midway down to pose for the camera, I continued down and couldn't get enough friction with the single rope (which was new as well). I augured in with a good splash. Fortunately, that pool was pretty deep (10-15ft minimum).
