I have truly enjoyed seeing all of the photos and having a face to associate with the screen names. I'd like to post a pic too, but am probably the least computer literate of all of us, and cannot figure out how to do. Okay, I feel better having admitted that :) I know nothing about computers. Saying it's kind of liberating.

(When I hit the "insert image" button, it gives me his message abou entering comlete URLs. Hmmm)

I feel your pain. It took me a long time to figure it out - and I have no excuse, I'm a programmer! However, I think I finally have it mastered:

In the File Attachments box - hit the "Browse..." key, select your image, then "Add This Attachment", and then a new box will appear, at which time you hit the button "Add into Post".

Hey, that's about how hard I climb, nowadays (I'm out of shape). :D

Technically, what you did was probably considerred a boulder problem, so instead of 5.0 (which exists along with 4th class scrambling), your rock would probably be graded using the bouldering V-scale. "VB" would be anything easier than 5.9/10 moves.

Anyway, here's me and my wife after caving one day...

Ah bouldering. I used to do that every other night after work at the BRC (Boulder Bum probably knows where that is). It was great fun. I was getting to the point where I could do easy V3's. I'm rather terrified of heights (yes I canyoneer, but I hate the abseiling). Gym climbing is brilliant fun. For whatever reason, I trust man made stuff more than natural rock. And hey, nothing's over 35 feet long. None of that 24 pitch route madness for me.

Bum, what's the rating on that overhanging bit you did near Rifle?

Even though it was not a boulder? It was actually a cliff face. Like real rock climbers climb. But very easy due to the number of hand- and foot-holds, and not very high.

Have you been to The Spot? It's seriously the coolest climbing gym ever!

The climb in Rifle is called "Fluff Boy" which is considerred an "easy" 5.13 b/c, though I found it harder than "Der Stihl" which is considered a "hard" 5.13 b/c.

Real rock climbers?!? Bouldering actually isn't considered "practice" for most climbers nowadays (just technical power climbing).

Anyhoo, even climbs up short cliffs can be considered "boulder problems", and generally are unless most people use ropes to climb the route.

That weekend, it was just Manitou Springs outside of Colorado Springs. It's an awesome tourist town! Lots of little neat shops and right next to Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, and the Manitou Cliff Dwellings (which is where we are in the picture).

I've been to Garden of the Gods- pretty cool place. I didn't do any climbing though; just watched.

I'm not sure why, but I knew it was in reference to bouldering. Maybe it's because I did some climbing & such in college (biggest climb was going up Devil's Tower, I think my route was a 5.7 if I remember correctly). That was a fun day, although my glasses caught on a rock halfway up and flipped off, so I didn't get much of a view at the top.

But, these pictures are not of you bouldering - you're using ropes!
So is that where the "bum" part of your name comes from? I think the women-folk are happy enough with the last picture, no need to post more. B)

I'm sorry. That was a very bad choice of words. I meant, it was like a "real" vertical rock climb. Had it been high enough, ropes would have been warranted. My guide actually thought we should not climb it, because she thought it would be too hard for me. But we wanted to get to that trail, and the number of hand- and foot-holds convinced me that I could do it, and there was no question that my guide could.

That looks like Lookout Mountain. Is it?

(Dragonfly, thanks for the instructions. Eclecticmoi also had an alternative route if I can't get it to work from yours.)

Yeah, that place is better to look at than to climb. It's a little sandy/fragile/dangerous. It's gorgeous, though!

Okay, you got me on the ropes thing. Boulder Bum just has such a nice ring to it. In my defence, I did spend several winter breaks in Hueco, and lived in Horse Pens 40, AL and Flagstaff, AZ/Priest Draw for a couple of months.

I know Lookout Mountain is very close to there if it's not in the background. I'm not sure, though.

    That's spooky.

I don't know if it's been edited or not, but it looks like a pic Arbus would have taken.
