We're back and after a week of turkey overload, we're rested and cover a crazy range of topics.
    • Spy photos of the Chevy Bolt, which will be revealed at CES in January
    • Pre-ordering the Tesla Model X
    • VW stock located circling the bowl
    • Kia's new plug-in hybrid, which is scheduled for release in 2020
    • If you have a Kia Soul EV, make sure you get your steering wheel pinion glued back together
    • Evan defends Tesla's Consumer Reports numbers
    • We go off on a rant about speed limits and speeding
    • Something about Faraday Future, who has nothing to show for something
    • The Audi a3 eTron, a large, low-mileage, plug-in hype machine
    • We go around the panel and provide winter driving tips.
    Enjoy!

Very interested in the speed limit discussion, the introduction of autonomous vehicles, good to hear the debate.

We've gone round-n-round about speed in the past. There are way too many sides to debate. Of course there are reasons for speed limits, but if no one follows them and the police allow it, then why have them? If you try to drive the limit, or in come cases less than 5mph above, then you are in everyone else's way.

There are a few others like this. When was the last time you saw anyone come to full stop behind the white line at a stop sign, for example? I recall this being stipulated in the Driver's Ed manuals, way back when, but no explanation as to why. I think a year or two back I finally twigged: it's to protect pedestrians.

Yeah, the few folks that play by the rules are in everybody else's way, true, but kinda sad. It will be interesting when autonomous vehicles come in. There's a trial in Ontario happening in January. One big issue is how they'll deal with snow covered curbs and lane markings.
