What exactly does having a VIN mean?

    A VIN contains information of "when" (in which week of the 52 in that year) it was produced. If a VIN is available, it only means the vehicle has been produced. Nothing else. Tracking certainly is possible by computers. I am not sure every dealer has access to that information. I have seen dealers with computer printouts that show lists of vehicles heading their way. That is about what kind of info they actually have. Remember that some vehicles stay at the port (Portland or Long Beach) for port-installed options/Accessories. It would take some time in addition to sea/ground transportation.
