What happens if I disconnect the 12v battery?

    No. The battery is just fine. See post #14. The charger also does diagnostics and reconditioning of the battery, which takes time. It made it through all 7 stages. If the battery was bad, it wouldn't have. The battery is also only a little over a year old. Not old enough to suspect the battery of being bad.
