    Welcome to Prius Chat (y).

    Some questions:
    • What was the battery level prior to the most recent start of the car?
    • Have you owned since new?
    • Any other recent oddities?
    • Recent maintenance performed?
    • Do you hear the hv battery fan running by the rear passenger seat vent?
    • Any dash warning lights?
Probably just running the AC more than usual and since it’s connected to the hv battery for its power, it is using more of it;).

Good luck and keep us posted (y).

My sister has 243k miles on her 2010 battery. The battery out lasted the original engine. My old project 2004 prius (built in 2003) battery bit the dust this spring but probably because it really hadn't been driven in two years. And it actually had surprisingly good capacity and mpg at 15 years old before it died. Amazing if you ask me!

No problem here at 12 years old vehicle.

We had some Consumers Reports data on Gen1 and Gen2 Prii batt fails. Since then we have no data. But it seems to me like Toyota improved batt life after Gen2....Gen2 had some tendency to kill HV batts on empty gaso tank if the owners drained the HV batt to zero. This tendency to drain HV batt to zero upon loss of fuel was later fixed in Gen3.

Ours was the same build-date, but sat at a nearby dealership till November 2010. Battery seems fine, behaving as it was when new. Only around 77K kms though.

You retirees with your low mileage :p.

My offer still stands that when you want to upgrade, I’ll put your garage queen to work(y).

What do you look for to suggest that your battery could benefit by using a Prolong?
I have an imported JDM 2012 HyCam with 75K miles on it. Here's a recent 5min Hybrid Assistant Battery test I did with the AC on:

I don't think any battery survives being fully drained. Some will come back to life, but they won't last for long.
I've used rechargeable batteries for decades and that seems to be the case for me. It damages the cells.
