This morning I called AAA to jump start my car. AAA told me that they didn't carry Prius 'C' battery only have Prius.

Then I went to Walmart and hoped to change the battery. Since I live in California, the auto center still close because of COVID19.

I drove my car to a dealership. The person did not explain me anything and just print out EST$ 458. I was shocked and I asked why would be that expensive. He told me that the battery alone is $ 296.

OK. Since I don't know any other place that they can replace the battery for me , so I signed.

After I sat down and I did online research. I saw the price of the battery from their website is $196. I went back to ask him. You can tell he was lying from his eyes. He did not say much and just said that he would match the price.

At the end, the bill was $358. The labor cost was $162 an hour. The battery was $196.

    Are the number reasonable??

Everything is more expensive in California.

For future reference, some auto parts stores have Prius batteries.
Pep Boys seems to be mentioned most often.
Some areas have "battery stores" too.

Good that you caught their price gouging on the battery itself.

The final price you paid was appropriate. Good thing you caught them!

lying eyes, i love it. should be the name of every dealer. in the end, that's a typical dealer price, and yes, c battery is hard to find unfortunately.
well done! now keep a maintainer on it if you're not driving much.

Good that you caught them lying. I don't trust dealerships. Someone in here coined the phrase "Stealerships". It fits. Pep Boys does carry them. $190 to $200 is what I have seen. Glad you didn't get taken.
