I am planning to install a remote starter bypass device and am wondering what the wire size is that I will be tapping into so that I can buy the right sized taps. Posi-taps seem to be the best tapping devices that I've seen online and they have a 20-22 gauge version that I assume would work well for this job. I know that using the right size tap is critical and I want to get this right, first try. Those wires look awfully small.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

Most all car wiring under the dash is 16 gauge. Some are 18. 20-22 is used only for electronic controls like the Smart key Start button, which uses a 5 volt circuit.
