I was lucky enough to see them on..let's see. I think it was 1998 in Detroit? Regardless, it was the tour for Counterparts, in which both at the Chicago show and the Detroit show they played the full set of 2112. The amazingly cool thing? They started the song at exactly 9:12pm, or 21:12 military time. It certainly goes down as one of my favorite concert experiences. (Seeing Black Sabbath on their 99 reunion tour two nights in a row was pretty excellent as well, especially being on the floor for the second night).

I was wondering whether this would be limited by where you live. My trips to the rural midwest in the mid-90s found a pretty barren landscape, beer-wise. On the other hand, I don't think any of the pubs I frequented in Seattle or Portland in the last 15 years haven't had a microbrew somewhere. (Yes, it's the Promised Land.)

Y'know, that would make a good Emoticon.

Well, the word "gnostic" means "to know," as in someone who knows god exists. Hence the term "agnostic" ("not knowing"). As for me, i don't have a clue :)

Occupation: Civil servant (except when I'm grumpy!)

Religion: United Church of Canada. Some of its own members jokingly refer to it as "Canada’s only agnostic church"!

    Socio-political leanings: a bit left-ish, I suppose.

Hobbies: watching TV, cycling, crocheting, building unstable furniture

Favorite Bands/Artists: Juan Luis Guerra y los 440, Oscar d’Leon, and several folk musicians in my hometown

Favorite TV Shows: Lack of cable TV or satellite limits access to a lot of shows I would probably like. I currently gravitate towards saccharine-sweet family dramas (e.g. Gilmore Girls, Judging Amy) and comedies (e.g. Red Green and This Hour has 22 Minutes)

Favorite Movies: This changes frequently. I have recently seen and enjoyed : The Weather Underground, Atanarjuat (aka The Fast Runner), Being John Malkovich, and Y tu mama tambien.

Favorite books/author: Detective novels with female authors such as Suzanne North, Alison Gordon, Karen Irving, Sue Grafton and Sara Paretsky.

Favorite Beer: Have really tried to like beer, but just can’t manage it. I prefer milk and mango juice.

I am noticing that several people on the list do not drink.

Favorite Bands: See above. Also, Richard Thompson, Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys, Junior Brown, anything swing, western swing, jump blues, Hawaiian jazz, etc, etc, etc....

Favorite TV: Survivor, The Sopranos, The Simpsons, The Daily Show

    Favorite movie: Fargo

Favorite drink: Add me to the micro-brew list. Boddington's is also a fave. Please note: I would like to respectfully disagree with the poster who complained of the dearth of micro-breweries in the Midwest. I used to live in Madison, WI and I was within a fifteen-minute drive of no less than five micro-breweries. Three years ago, I moved to Florida. There is one, I repeat, ONE brewery in the county and this is the most densely populated county in the state! Pathetic.

I live in the Texas Hill Country on 33 acres in a house I designed and built myself. I commute 30 miles to work and felt that my F150 at 15 miles per gallon and 1800 gallons per year was in conflict with my value system. I vow to drive this car until one is available that gets 80 mpg real world. I know that I am still using far too many resources for one person but I can live with it for now and strive to improve on it. Thanks Toyota.

Maybe the atheists and agnostics and pagans will get swept up to heaven and all those humorless fundies will be the ones left behind. I am an atheist, but if I did believe in god I would find it hard to believe in a god who would want to fill heaven entirely with such an utterly humorless bunch.
