Love my little Prius so much, but quit driving it much after spouse retired, and now I am pretty sure it needs a new hybrid battery. It has a new 12-volt battery and still throws codes and we haven't been driving it although we have been keeping the 12-volt plugged in. Long story short, I would like to sell it very cheap to someone who knows a lot about them and could fix it up and have a good car. We are in the Dallas area. Any suggestions on where to start? Anyone here interested? Thanks so much, J. Moore
I got great news for you! Your car can be fixed with a simple charge and balance of your hybrid battery pack!If you lived in my neighborhood I'd charge you less than $100. Most people will charge way more than that... Of course if you go to a Toyota Stealership they'll tell you that you have to by a new battery pack. But the truth is every time a Prius has sat unused for a long time the first thing you need to do before trying to start the car is give some power to the hybrid battery cooling fan and then send 250v DC charge at a 1/3 of an amp to the pack overnight and your car will be good as new. Maxx Volts and Hybrid Automotive make expensive consumer models. You can buy a variable DC charger online that goes up to 250v DC for less than that. Or you can build your own.
