What Type Oil Is In The Engine Of New Plug-In?

    A couple of Toyota's stances stretch credulity:

    1. A one step upward bump of oil weight necessitates halving the oil change interval.

    2. From one model year to the next, with supposedly identical engines, the two oil weights mentioned are both bumped downward.

    Seems like the engineers are silenced, and some executives are playing search-and-replace with a text editor.

    This engine is essentially unchanged, since the 3rd gen debuted in mid-2009? Did the early 2009 Owner's Manuals spec 5W30 or 6 months, per second gen?
