    -3: Chevrolet Camaro (stolen)
    gas mileage: [1]

-2: Ford Escort (sold after I got next car)
    city MPG: mid 20s
    hwy MPG: low 30s

-0.5: Infiniti G20 (I still have it and like it, but it's getting old)
    city MPG: mid 20s
    hwy MPG: low 30s

    0: 2010 Toyota Prius
    city MPG: 35-55? (varies wildly)
    hwy MPG: 52 so far

[1] I remember a TV commercial a long time ago. It showed a guy at the gas station refuelling a sports car. He gets in, starts up and revs the engine, and the fuel gauge instantly drops to zero. I always thought THAT'S MY CAR! I made lots of long road trips in it though, so I think it got relatively decent highway mileage. (high 20s I think)

We had a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid...The CVT tranny was a real problem and replacement was over $3000 for the parts alone. Despite having purchased the Honda extended warranty, the dealerships and Honda motors refused to address my problems. The CVT transmissions were recalled only in Japan. From what I have read on Edmund's Forums, this problem has affected many model years of the HCH Hybrid. Our 2009 Prius has been trouble free at a year and a half and 20,000 miles.

I was commuting in a 2005 Chevy pickup 2500 4WD diesel (20 MPG highway). The Prius replaced that for commuting, but I still have it.

Although, I traded in a 2008 Audi RS4 when I bought the Prius.

My 10-mile one-way commute went to 50 miles when I took a new job, so I had to do something.

my previous car was a 2010 Honda Insight. Ride like a buckboard, poor or game like instrumentation, Head rest 1/2 inch away from the back of my head, cup cake tin-like vents that you can't get an adjustment other than " freeze your forehead", too low for easy enterance ( a real head bonger ) sounds like my snow mobile while accelerating.

Replaced with my 2010 GenIII. Loved the Mercedes but love my Prius just as much and maybe more.

[ i estimate 1500-2000 depending on where you will take it. shouldn't be just a day or two max. New headlight, fender, bumper, painted on both of them, with the supports underneath them.

I read about 6 pages of this thread and several have mothballed their car w/battery tender. That reminded me that I had better put one on the Lexus as I almost never drive it since we got the Prius. Previous auto was a 2010 Mazda5 w/24,000 miles, that we both really liked, but a concrete abutment ripped the motor and trans out along with the radiator and A/C and totaled the car. Bought a '10 certified Prius and had a few hundred left from the ins. check. Really like the Prius, but miss the ZOOM ZOOM sometimes.

2007 4 Runner SR5 4WD...loaded. I really loved it but it didn't get much better mileage than my wife's 2004 Silverado. She drives all over Marion County, Fl....working with horses and their owners...the only use for the truck was towing and hauling. So..traded in the 4 Runner. We came close to getting a new Ford Focus (up to 40 mpg?) , but the Prius mileage, cargo room and reputation was superior. The Prius pays for itself in fuel savings....and it is very nice to drive. We are planning a road trip to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving.

In 2010, I came from a 2008 Civic Hybrid...I wanted to see what all the talk was about for myself!
