My wife is a terrible driver, I got in the Prius today and saw the MPG.... 35 MPG!!!!

What's the lowest MPG you've seen?

On the flip side, I tried to drive my daily driver a 2012 X5 M (555 HP, 500 ft torque, twin turbo V8) the "Prius" way. This is the best MPG I got for freeway travel. 24 MPG, that's it. The engine was super unhappy to be driven the Prius way.

.5 MPG. Started it, backed it out of the garage, and waited for warm up to finish before shutting it off. It was too cold to use EV mode to back it out.

How do I top that! LOL Worst for me was 46 mpg, calculated, so computer likely showed about 49 mpg. It was my first winter in my Prius and I wasn't grill blocking yet.

When we got our previous Civic Hybrid back from a body shop once, the mileage was at 29 liters per 100 km. That translates to around 8 mpg. I assume they just idled it a lot, but pretty depressing.

The worst milage we ever got with our Gen III was on a winter drive in SE New Mexico, flat terrain, temperature in the teens, driving into a 40 mph headwind - 36 mpg.

My worst is around 35 MPG. Sorry for the approximation because I never actually calculated it. It was during Christmas, temperatures around 40-45 degrees and I was driving between 80-85 MPH. I slowed down a little bit when driving through the mountains of the Grapevine, but otherwise, it was fast driving through the flatlands of I5. I'm sure both the weather and the speed accounted for the real low MPG.

About two months ago I got my worst tank ever... 34.8 mpg calculated. That one was really tough to enter into Fuelly.com

Worst tank ever on my Gen III was 38 mpg. It was nearly all short trips of 3 to 5 miles, either from a cold start or after being stopped for an hour or more. I normally get around 45 mpg with a mix of short trip and highway without trying for good mileage and over 50 mpg on a long run at freeway speed limit to limit +5mph.

Mainly the temps were below 0... -15 to 15 above for like three weeks solid. Other than that, it was dry roads with a little ice. Garaged at night but outside during work, 15 mile one way 30 round-trip commute.

When I bought my car it had been at the dealer for close to 5 months.
53 miles on the odometer and 24.2 mpg on the display.
A lot of test drives preceded by long warmups, I suspect.
No harm done, as far as I can tell.

These things are tougher than most people think, it will take a lot to break them. Unless they were built on a Monday when the tech had to much sake the night before. :p

35MPG recently - wet coldish weather and bad traffic and very hilly terrain
