When I bought my 2008 Touring Prius, I got a bonus because the naked wheels looked better than when covered by the plastic wheel covers. I am ready to purchase a 2016 Prius Four (not touring) and now I wonder what the 15" wheels look like under the plastic wheel covers? Anybody know?

They're all gloss black now. I think the 15" look half-nice person utilitarian, well apart from the color. The 17" look bad now, there's some kinda lug at each opening, to hold the plastic push-in pieces. Sad.

Thanks. First thing I plan on doing is taking off the covers and determining what looks best.

I'm not so sure we know what wheels will be used. Remember, all we've seen so far have been labeled "prototype". When the GIII "prototypes" were here they had different wheels than the car finally shipped with. At least the one I checked out did.

The GIII black wheels can be seen on the left (my avatar) with the GII "hubcaps" installed.

Check out the 4th gen 15" accessory rims in the Priuschat Shop. They're very nice Toyota rims, 10 spoke. Currently $999, 'til Danny sorts out prices. Sadly, I suspect the real price'll be too steep, but who knows:

What bugs me is that Toyota doesn't use something like this from the get go. I'd guess there's a Toyo executive who loves plastic wheel covers.

Well, if you want a moonroof, you will have to put up with the Grey plastic covering the "Clearance Lamp" area and the wheel covers that stick out like "spinners", so much so you can see a shadow, :).

Persona is usually a special edition. I think Persona = Touring = Prius Five,

For Four, it should be twin 5-spoke alloys under the 15" wheel covers. It's almost (if not identical) to the Gen 3 wheels. They're silver painted.

Aren't all the 4th gen alloy rims gloss black under the covers?

It's a baby step in the right direction, going back to silver rim in 15".

GII "hub cap" works just fine. Not very expensive from the dealer, even less so from "e-bay". The black wheels on the left (avatar) do need something to "break" the black. I thought maybe a "pin stripe" in the rim would be nice, but I'm no artist. ;) Funny how the "silver" probably wouldn't need anything. Just the "hub cap".
