Which Driving Mode Do you use?

    Keep the log, but you’ll need the P0A80 to display to take advantage of the warranty ;).

    The 10 year/150 k miles warranty might be your friend down the road.

    How’s the mpg holding up?
    Do you hear the hv battery fan running ?
    Leave any wrappers or churros blocking the hv fan inlet?

    For what it's worth, in UK (not so very hot as a rule), I've noticed that drop in SOC on mine overnight a couple of times. Recovery was always swift after restarting and I never paid it any more attention. It hasn't happened again since, so I wonder if the battery management protocol had a but of a glitch. ?????

    It could be or it’s last memory of what it thought the SOC was is off.

    When I recondition our 2010’s battery, the SOC meter on the dash does not show full when I restart the Prius for the first time after the top off charge where the battery voltage is much higher. It shows 6-7 bars (the state is was in when I turned off the Prius).

    Maybe @Starship16 has fed his Prius something that affects her memory:whistle:?

    Do not forget you are used to working with Ni-MH battery packs. He has a Li-Ion one.
    It's behavior may be different.

    It's been 100+ here in Dallas and I'm still running in Eco with the AC set to 74 and the fan on 3-5 bars without any issue. If I have people in the car I might turn up the fan a bit.

    This is pretty warm for my area of Southern California. I'm parked with the AC running. The ICE kicks in when it gets down to two bars on the battery meter. The AC is working very well in this heat.

    85 mile drive today. Temperature was between 75° to 89°. (Later it hit a high of 113!)

    I think the traction battery is fine. The majority of the time the battery level stayed near the top, just one bar below full. It did drop down rapidly three times, below the halfway level, but I think that was just a normal recycling / recharging. MPG was good. Power was good.

    I will check tomorrow to see if the battery level dropped any overnight.

    I just kicked it up to 63. :) I'm one of these weird people that always feels too warm. Too much spicy food I guess.

    63 feels like 75 to me. :eek: And my AC doesnt seem to get very cold. Even when the AC Eco button is turned off. But its good enough! It's great to be able to sit in the car for hours, in READY mode, running the AC and only burn a tiny bit of fuel.

    I used Eco for a long time and got great economy. Then on a whim, recently, I changed to Power and still got the same great economy.

    Yep, me too. I'm back to the PWR mode full-time. I prefer the light gas pedal and brisker acceleration. And my mpg is always better when using PWR mode.

    I think the only real difference is what mode your car is in when using the dynamic cruise control. ECO mode is slowest to "fill the gap" and so on - PWR mode catches up much quicker. I think my right foot adapts almost immediately to whatever mode is chosen. And like the others have said the MPG performance is no different in any of the modes...

    If I'm hyper-miling - which I don't often unless I've got time and not much traffic - ECO is much easier to gently moderate the throttle.

    It doesn't really matter. The difference in each mode only relates to the throttle mapping/curve, meaning how much response you get from a certain pressure on the gas pedal. If you want to try for extra fuel economy you can use "eco" mode which allows for more modest increases of the throttle for more gentle acceleration so you can keep the vehicle in "ev" mode longer. Alternatively you can use the more aggressively calibrated "power" mode to get to your cruising speed in a hurry then back off to go in to "ev" mode and glide for a while. I've a 2016 Prius which has returned 4.2ltr per 100km over 27,000km since I bought it new. It doesn't really matter how you drive the Prius because your fuel economy won't change all that much. If I drive really lead-foot I will probably only get 4.6ltr per 100km but I'm still doing better than all those dinosaurs out there on the road getting 10-16ltr per 100km. That is why you drive this car. With the cost of petrol reaching new heights recently the averages guy whines about the cost, you can laugh at them and their poor choice of car.
