Which water pump was replaced, Inverter or Engine?

    Hello and thanks for your help!

    At 92K miles in 2013 I took my 2Gen in for the gas pedal MOD recall and Toyota said they also replaced my " 04000-32528 HV ELECTRIC WATER PU; SLLC2 SUPER LONG LIFE COOL". (I uploaded a photo of my receipt here, but not sure if you can read it so that is why I wrote it out).

    My question: is this the pump for the inverter?

    Today, my Prius has 168K miles on it. I am getting ready to change both the engine AND inverter coolant with fresh Toyota SLLC COOLANT plus I want to change the engine water pump if the forum thinks its time to? (I will also put on a new serpentine belt).
    Just some preventative maintenance and there is no evidence of pink crystals or leaking anywhere.

    The recall in 2013 addressed the Inverter water pump, which lasts around 100k miles. This item can be changed out early if you wish.

    If your engine water pump is not leaking, I wouldn't mess with it.

    Yes, the hv electric water pump is indeed the inverter pump.

    Yes, I know where it is. Has 2 black hoses and an electrical connection to it?
    I've been watching those in trying to get a feel for the job. Thank you.

    20.jpg Was wondering if anyone has ever replaced this kind of pump I believe its attached on the tank don't exactly know what year is the coverage but it fits on a 2007 Toyota part number: 16290-21010 Electric Cooling Water Pump. My question is when do you normally change this? picture is attached.

    I believe you are referring to the engine coolant heat recovery system pump. This is the pump which runs for a few seconds upon startup and shutdown. The pump is located in the left front fender well in front of the tire.

    You would change the pump when the engine ECU logs a DTC which indicates that the pump is inoperative. Its failure does not really impair vehicle driveability. The purpose of the pump is to speed up engine warmup by maintaining 3 liters of hot engine coolant in the canister.
