Mine on my 2009 went out about 3 years ago right here on this list. And was replaced with a brand new from Toyota for 1640 I believe it was at the time right here in North Carolina the original battery lasted until I don't know $210,000 I think something like that

I believe my hybrid battery in my 2007/2008 Prius is the original battery at almost 140,000 miles.

I have most of my original battery from 2006 but in 2020 I had 4 modules out of 28 replaced. Still it is working fine after the rebuild.

So far, 8 out of 8 reporting "yes" are located in cooler climes.

My 2009 Gen 2 had the original traction battery at the end of 2023 when it had 215K miles. I don't know after that. I sold the car. It still got good gas mileage and I had never had any warnings that the traction battery wasn't working properly. (No, I didn't dump my car on an unsuspecting buyer. I was open and honest about everything to do with the car when I sold it.)

I have mine, but I've only owned the car since May of 2022, I've only put 24k miles on it, got at 136k, now at 160k. Original traction battery, plan to upgrade to lithium project next if it ever goes. Currently having issues and I do not know if it's cvt or what, it's like I'm slipping while driving, engine doesn't sound any different but traction light comes on, thinking about making a post, trying to figure out how to word my problem better. Thinking of buying a parts car now because I'm in love with this car and wanna do the repairs myself and keep it going.

So far ONLY 10 people have reported that they still have the 'original hybrid battery':(

*That's NOT many, considering all the GEN.2 Prius that were sold.:(

I do not think that all of the Gen 2 owners are members of this forum. So you are not going to get a good idea (%) of original OEM traction batteries that are still in use in a Gen 2 Prius.

A more scientific pool would be to ask all the Gen 2 owners on this forum to report their year and mileage and if they have the original OEM traction battery or if they have a replacement battery.

    A replacement battery would include:
    1. The original OEM battery with one or more modules replaced.
    2. An OEM battery that was taken from another car and installed into the Gen 2.
    3. A refurbished or rebuilt battery,
    4. A new battery (OEM and aftermarket).

I don't log into Prius chat very often. I look, but don't log in much.

My 2009 has 140k miles, all in SoCal, and the original hybrid battery. I'm thinking of selling it soon. I "gave it to my daughter 2 years ago" but she never got her drivers license, so my wife was driving it 2-3 times a week to keep it up and she is tired of paying full coverage insurance on it. I'm living in another state or I'd drive it
