Jello wrestling reminds me of New Orleans :( It is a shame what has happened down there, what a great town to spend 3-4 days in!

Getting back to the topic of this thread . . .

"Why do I argue with malorn?"

A friend recently gave me a good analogy of this phenomena.

Arguing with someone online is like competing in the Special Olympics . . .
You may win your event . . . but you are still a retard.

    Not very good at all.

But I do believe in right versus wrong, so arguing for right in the face of the sheer stupidity that often comes with wrong sounds OK to me.

What happens, however, is that wrong often automatically dismisses even the most salient points in favor of whatever wrong consists of, but in a way that doesn't seem totally stupid, so you continue, hoping that eventually the right concepts you lay out sink in. Repeat until it does, or the thread dies.

If it's 'retarded' to believe that someday right will sink in, then why argue with anyone, ever, online or off?...

Careful... my "you win THE PRIZE picture" caused a little too much controversy because it poked fun at the mentally ill... Personally, I thought it was hilarious, but well, not too many share my sense of humor...

Laughingman, your comments were lost in the yelling. This is a great point. If GM goes under, SOMEONE will fill the gap. People want their cars. Remember airlines going under...people still want to travel.

Rinks was a big dept. store, K-mart killed it, K-mart was big, Wal-mart is killing it. Home Depot...Lowes...there are lots of examples. This is all just normal market stuff and none of it worries me.

Oh, and "feeding the troll".. I don't define him as a troll and I learn from hearing other peoples point of view.

Mostly I think it is just that same impulse that humans have to rubber neck at an accident or the guy changing his tire on the side of the road.....we just don't want to miss anything.
And it can be a nice diversion....

The word "retarded" isn't exclusive to people who are in the developmentally disabled category. It also means to delay or hold back in terms of progress, development or accomplishment. People who don't listen and don't learn with a seeming intent on doing so can be retarded in their thinking, but, they do it by choice. An analogy would be the difference between ignorance and stupidity. Ignorance is not knowing. Stupidity is the determination of not knowing. I really hate the political correctness crap that so many people seem to be obsessed with. If you want to be offended then fine, be offended.
