Why do people want me to "justify" such a purchase?

    Just ask them a similar question. 'About that widescreen television you bought a few months ago, do you expect to break-even before the year 2025?'

    Do people who put $1200 24" chrome rims on a $500 Chevy Caprice justify their purchase? You shouldn't either!

    There is no reason to justify making your car better. Like you say people spend tons on their trucks, people spend tons on sound systems, dvd systems etc... Atleast you did something positive with yours.
