I am not warming up to these new wheels. What were they thinking? I'm considering keeping the two sets of wheels I have on my 2008 and selling it with these new wheels and tires.

Yes but they are taller than the OE tires (195/65/15 vs. 185/65/15). The tires off your 2008 will, therefore, be smaller than the OE tires on your 2012. It would be better to swap the tires and TPMS sensors from one set of wheels to the other.

Could I not just mount the 2012 new tires on the 2008 OEM wheels and leave the TPSM sensors alone? Then mount the old 2008 tires on the new wheels?

Also, the 17 inch wheels are beautiful but they are also VERY expensive. Are there any 15 inch OEM wheels available from other toyota models that will fit the prius?

You would have to reprogram the sensors I believe.

There are other OE wheels from other cars that would fit. The Scion tC and Lexus CT200h 17" wheels are commonly used on the Prius. Unfortunately the Prius uses a different bolt pattern than the other Lexus cars which sport awesome wheels.
