    Well, not entirely FREE.

    In the Rules and Regulations is this:

    The Opportunity Drawing prize is a 2009 Toyota Prius, with manufacturer's
    suggested retail price of $27,654. Based on this manufacturer's suggested
    retail price, the winner will be responsible to pay the following
    approximate amounts: withholding tax of $7,743    , payable to California
    State Parks Foundation, and taxes, license, title and/or registration fees
    and any other costs, including any travel or transportation costs, payable to
    TMS, of approximately $2,700    . Actual amounts may be more or less
    than those stated here.

    Despite the old addage, it is a good idea to look a gift horse in the mouth.

    Entrants must be legal residents of the State of

    There are two truths presented here:
    1) You can buy a $100 ticket for the opportunity to win a new Prius for $10,443 with no wait list.
    2) You have to be in California to participate and win

    There are many many people on wait lists right now waiting patiently for the "pleasure" of paying full price for a new Prius. There are also many many people registered at PriusChat from California.
