My buddy has a 3rd gen prius that he recently purchased off an insurance auction and the windows aren't working at all.

I told him to disconnect the 12 volt and reset the hybrid switch, check the fuses. Everything seems to check out. No solution...

What else should we test out?

Connect techstream and see if the switches are working before ripping things apart.

Use the switches on the door and see if they work. Don't rely on the driver's switches

grid had a good suggestion. Use Techstream and watch in the active data list to see the status of the switches while you push them up and down. You'll find out if the windows aren't working because the switch signals aren't reaching the ECU, or the signals are getting there but power's not getting to the motors.

From what he said - fixing/replacing the main motor got the rest of them to work.

My mechanic said it would cost $800.00 to fix the front passenger window to go up and down. Is there any other way to replace or fix this? I have a 2010 Prius generation 3. Thanks.

find a better mechanic, who will install a salvage motor. or maybe it's a loose wire inside the door.

it is not particular to prius, and something anyone should be able to do.

MANY youtube video's of how to replace the regulator, and/or motor.
Just do a search and watch at least 5 of them.

Sorry I am not mechanically inclined. My mechanic thinks the motor is bad. To replace is $800.00

$800?????? SERIOUSLY? 1 hour labor, 2 TOPS, at $100 and hour labor rate? So $200. Motor? $100? $200 from Toyota.
Okay, so at the EXTREME MOSTEST, $400, But in the real world, $200 TOPS!
Time to look at other places.
