I got mine tinted this weekend. I did notice some distortion during the day, but attribute that to it not being cured yet.

I did not notice anything different at night.

I used Modaco 70% ceramic. I cannot tell any difference in the window other than a slight blueish color.

My wife couldn't tell it was done looking at my car side by side with hers. We both have 30%

You are ignoring MadKaw's Law of the Second Mistake. You probably can't access the link, so allow me to quote:
"MadKaw's Law of the Second Mistake: It is the second mistake that kills you. The Universe is a kind and loving universe--it forgives a single mistake. The proof of this is that we are still walking around. If the first mistake killed you, we'd all be dead by now. But while kind and loving, it is not tolerant. Rarely will you survive the second mistake."

You see - the goal is to avoid the first mistake, so that you still have one freebie.

If I drove in a tunnel and could not see because of the transition lenses I believe I would remove the glasses while in the tunnel

But it's hard to remove a windshield - despite the movie heroes kicking the windshield out from the inside. And then getting someone to repair it at the other end of the tunnel while driving 55-70 is even harder.

I have 2 of my cars front windshields tinted with 50% an it works great. Even at night it doesn't hurt my vision but it makes a huge difference in glare & heat during the hot summer months. I would highly recommend it. You can't even tell it is tinted at all when looking at it. On my 09 Corolla I have 35% tint all around with 50% on the front windshield & on my 95 Previa I have 20% on my back windows, 25% on the front 2 windows with 50% on the front windshield. The A/C has to work a lot less too. Today it almost hit 100F & I had my A/C on the lowest fan speed & my daughter was actually cold in the back seat.

I have had no problems at all with seeing at night or in any weather condition. I've been driving for more then 2 years with 50% tint on my front windshield. Don't overreact as the OP wants 70% on the front windshield, you won't notice the tint at all but it will help during hot months.

I agree with most of this but I would never use 5% on my windows since it's just too dark at night. As I said, with my Corolla having 35% all around & 50% on my front windshield I have no problem seeing out in any lighting condition. It does also help though when the sun is rising or setting & you are driving directly into it. With the OP wanting 50% on the car & 70% on the front windshield he will have no problems.

My tint shop offered me 80% or 50% for my front windshield. After reading the last few posts I think I will go with the 50%. The shop even told me that 80% is almost unnoticeable except that it will feel cooler. I think I would be happy with a slightly darker tint. Im going with 35% all the way around (minus the lower rear window thats already tinted) then 50% on the front.

How do you guys pass state inspection with a windshield tint? They will find out pretty quickly when they use a razor blade to trim off the old inspection sticker, even the tint is light.

Not all states use windshield stickers. CA uses stickers on the license plates.

I would think you could just tell them you have a protective film on the inside and not to use a blade on it and they would comply.

I have 70% on and you cannot tell it is tinted at all.

My tint shop said they can either create a cutout in the window film or I can come into their shop a couple days before Im due for an inspection and they will heat up the NYSI sticker, remove it and tape it to the window for the inspector to remove.

Yeah, I've got 35% Ceramic tint all around, minus the small hatch window, and it looks fine.

Thanks for confirming. I have read other poster say it looked fine too. Good to hear!

What did you pay? I was quoted $350 for sides, upper rear and windshield.

Good call to tint the lower hatch window, or you'll wish you did.

No, we are saying we DID NOT tint the lower rear.

Are you saying that you DIDNT and wish you DID?

If that quote is for high quality film like ceramic, then that's about what I paid. Formula One film comes with lifetime warranty against defects and fading.
