So one of my windshield washer arms is making a lot of noise from hitting the bottom of the window. It's the one on the passenger side, with the large base. When not in use it seems to be resting too far down, too close to the bottom of the window all the way across. Is there some way to adjust this? I've double check and the wiper blade is attached properly.

Yes, you can adjust the wiper arm position. There are two links and pivots for the passenger side arm. The left pivot drives the arm, while the right one just moves freely. Have the wipers in the parked position.

What you want to do is to loosen the nut on the left pivot a few turns, then grab the link near where it connects to the big arm and gently push and pull straight up and down perpendicular to the windshield until the link comes loose from the pivot. Move the wiper arm so the blade is about an inch from the trim at the bottom of the windshield. Put the nut back and snug it down- torque spec is 15 ft/lbs.

Is this an OEM blade assembly ?
If not, that might be part of the problem.

As far as I know, the wiper arm has never been replaced so it's probably original.

That's perfect, thanks. Sounds simple enough!

You can remove the nut and take out the wiper, and insert it a little more up...
The pictures attached shows the position of arm when you make adjustments...

    Not talking about the arm.
The assembly that holds the rubber blade.
If you get aftermarket replacements, you usually get the whole blade assembly and not just the rubber refill.
Those are sometimes a slightly different size and can act differently........including making the action on the glass different.

True enough. Some replacement blades are centered on the arm while others can be offset above or below the centerline.

Ah, I see. I didn't know that. I don't know what brand I last bought but I'll look into this and maybe start with buying new blades first.

Happy to say I finally got around to doing the adjustment today, it was really a piece if cake. I'd forgotten what silent windshield washers are like, what a relief! Thanks for your help folks.
