    Anyone else seeing this?
Does it translate into real world pricing?

I got an email today from the dealership.

"We Want Your 2006 Toyota Prius

Beechmont Toyota is offering you a very unique opportunity. Due to the shortage of quality pre-owned vehicles, we have given our managers the authority to buy-back or trade for your 2006 Toyota Prius, with incredible savings to you. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY!!

For a limited time we are authorized to pay an additional $1,000 above Blue Book value as a loyalty bonus for your buy-back or trade!"

May be if they give me $10k more I will think about it. :p

KBB said my 2006 Prius is worth the same as 2 years ago. I have 142k miles now, 100k miles 2 years ago.

Yes, mine is also $5000 more retail than what I paid in December - and I've put 5000 miles on it. Hmm, maybe if I drive another 10k miles will it be worth $10k more...talk to you later, I'm going to do some highway driving :)

KBB retail is @*#(ing ridiculous. Says my used 2010 Prius is worth 27k or more, total rubbish. I CAN still buy a new 2011 for 24-25k.

However, used Priuses are definitely worth substantially more, so my car is worth more than it was but KBB sucks as much now as ever.

KBB is a joke. Problem is people go to there site and see these ridiculous prices for full retail and always think there car is in excellent shape for the year and proceed to over price there cars and feel insulted when you as they would put it low ball them. As a Prius owner I could only wish to get these inflated prices when i wanna sell.

When I ad'd my 2009 about 12/28/10, there were like 90 ads for 2009 Prius any given day just on craigslist...

today ... 13 ads for 09 Prius on CL

    prices are way up too.

one dude asking $18.5k for 2009 pkg 2 with 61k miles..

In January, he wouldn't have dared ask $16.5k

Virtually no 2009's were priced over $20k in January.

Now, all dealer prices are well over $20k

the one's under $20k will be salvage, past 36k warranty and private sales.

My philosophy is the same as Barnum's famous "there's one born every minute". Hey....wow! Yeah! Let me just run to the dealership and pay a premium for a perception.
