Would Toyota Dealer log valve clearance measurements?

Would a Toyota Dealer log valve clearance measurements if at 75,000 miles they had to do a valve adjustment? I think it unlikely the valves needed adjustment (I have an okay ear for hearing valves-too-lose or valves-too-tight) and from what I've gleaned, it wouldn't be likely. And in the end there is no mention of their adjusting the valves, only inspecting.

So yes I think the dealership did unnecessary work as the work order only says "valve clearance inspection" - to the tune of close to $600. I approved it because on the phone the guy made it sound imperative.

Thanks for anyone's take on this.

Sure, I would ask for the shop report. I've never hired out that job, but for example, when I pay for a front end alignment, even if no adjustment is done, I always ask for a copy of the printout, at least to have a baseline to compare next time.

There's a "sticky" here about services you don't need, with a few posts about valve clearance, if you care to fuel your suspicions a bit more.
