I have a 2007 bmw 328xi with the sport package. It has four years of schedualed maintnence, brakes, and everything. it is a fantastic car.. and im averaging 32.8 miles per gallon!!! it's a manual, but whatever. I love the prius but when i want my little sports car its fun. -Our old 1991 325i went to 386,000 miles before us selling it, and it was reliable as anything. Like i always say to people, cars that are expensive to repair, are expensive to build, so your buying a quality product... not saying that the toyota is not, but when i drive the toyota it feels like it was 'built for the deadline' than the bmw's 'built for the customer'... though the no dipstick thing is kind of odd.----but you can add oil:

You sure you getting 32.8 mpg? Is this based on actual calculations or what a trip computer tells you?

Per http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/calculatorC...=1&id=23520, it's EPA rated 17/26, 20 combined using the new ratings or 19/28, 22 combined using the pre-2008 MY method.

You should drive my husband's car - 06 M Coupe. It literally blows my panties off it's so fast. We used to live on a windy road that curved through a golf course and it was like being on a roller coaster. Pure adrenaline rush. He isn't allowed to drive that car to work though as it gets terrible gas mileage ~ like 13 mpg(premium only!).

I personally hate it when I have to drive it (I am turning into an old lady:( ) because the clutch is HARD as a rock (much harder than the 3 series, we had a '06 330) and the ride is SUPER rough. Like whip lash rough. You can't start in first gear either unless you like to peel out at lights.

If I was single, I'd like it more - I get about 100 offers for dates when I drive that car.

Yes, i am averaging 32.8. Surely. I dont drive like a grandma either... it's a great car. My friend who just got a 335i gets 25-27miles per gallon.. but the new twin turbo is kind of thirsty. I am getting my calculations from the cars computer and my way using the trip odometer.

BTW, the M-versions are really fun! but like you said, they are really rough and rowdy driving cars. The 328 has perfectly balanced steering and havent had any complaints about the clutch. Actually, ive never really heard anyone complain about the 3-series... lol.

The manual in VW's don't have have a dipstick either. To check it you have to crawl under the car, take out the fill plug, and manually check the level. As others have said, the transmission fluid is considered to be a "lifetime fill" so if you don't see any eternal leaks, you don't check the level. I have 140K miles so far on the original factor fill.

The Bimmer, Beemer thing is a classic example of American arrogance. We change the spelling and pronounciation of a term or word from a foreign launguage and then get all huffy when someone spells it or pronounces it the correct way. Hell, we had the balls to rename every major city in the world. Paris is not Paris, Prague is not Prague, Munich is not Munich, Venice is not Venice, etc. We even rename countries.

This link brings up a web page with no text in it. So, what's the deal about no gas gauge? If it tells you how many miles you have left, that's acceptable. But if all it has is an "add gas now" light, it's not.

But then, I would never buy a BMW. I'd buy a GM before I'd buy a BMW.

I thought I was making a joke about no gas gauge.....because I thought "no oil dipstick" was unlikely. I did not see any backup confirmation from an BMW expert. Maybe the joke is on me. I would like to see a first hand confirmation
