Someone mentioned the steering wheel in an earlier post. I think I'm doing what that poster was doing. I slide the seat back, but then arms don't reach wheel, so I angle the seat up to get to steering wheel comfortably. Then perhaps I'm up too high. So we should start asking for an extendable steering wheel or tilt adjustable seats?
1. 6' (195# and 34" inseam) 2, Male 3. No discomfort 4. No problem typically My only issue is that because of long arms (36" sleeve) I have to tilt the seat slightly more than I am comfortable with. I would prefer 1" more rearward seat travel so I could keep the seat slightly more vertical. Generally I have no complaint in terms of comfort.
2002 Prius 6'4" The prius is my commuter car and I do fit, but it is not elegant. My commute is only 25 min each way and I use other cars for longer trips. If I'm going to squeeze into a small car, it better get great mileage. The prius does just that.
female, somewhere between 5'7" and 5'8" some people offer their weight, i am not one of them. i've got proportionally long legs, and after driving a really comfy car for a few months, i kinda wish there was more thigh support. i can handle up to about 3 hours no problem, but after that my lower body gets tired.
6'-0" 210# 33-inch inseam 74 year old male No discomfort; longest drive in one day = 600 miles No trouble seeing lights (better than my 1999 Camry was) I do have a sheepskin seat insert which helps on long drives.
6'1" with a freakishly long torso. My GF says "Freak of Natureâ„¢" Male. Hairy. No. Have driven from Sacramento to San Diego in one day without a problem. My GF complains about lumbar support in our other vehicles but likes the Prius seats. Traffic lights can be an issue. I modified the seat to lower it and that helps, but I still sometimes have to move my head to see overhead lights. Before modifying the seat, my eyepoint (looking level out the windshield) was above the SRS logo molded into the A-pillar. With the seat modification my eyepoint in slightly below the SRS logo.
1) 6' 0" 2)Male 3)no 4)yes. I really think about 6' is the max height that would be comfortable for long periods of time as I cannot really stretch my legs out all the way. I could use a little more rearward adjustment and the angle of the seat could be front up, rear down a little more. As far as comfort, though, it is fine. I drive 200-300 miles a day and just got done with a 1k mile trip with no back issues.
1) 5'3", 29 inch inseam 2) Female 3) The built-in lumbar support hits my lower back perfectly, so no discomfort at all 4) Depends on where the light is hung! There is one intersection here where I'm UNDER the light when I stop. The rest of them, I can see fine. Hey, F8L, have your friend try riding in the backseat. Our 6'5" son (all legs, seriously) has more legroom back there. Just slide the seat in front of him all the way forward.
Thanks for your replies, everyone. It's been a big help with seeing the overall picture. I'm tempted to rent the car for a weekend like it was mentioned on page 1, and see what happens. But on the flip side, I'm even more tempted to just buy the car and hope all goes well. I wouldn't imagine the seats be a huge problem... But I would welcome more experiences if you are able to post them. Thanks.
Rent one. It cost me $160 from Enterprise for three days, no mileage charge, I put on 1000 miles on the car going to California and back and the gas expense was laughable.
6'2" (220 lbs) with 34" inseam Male Minimum 3.5 hrs driven per day without back aches 95% of traffic lights can be seen w/o bending over as long as you stop at the white stop bar on the ground. Hope this helps you. I do wish the seat went back another two inches or so. That is my only complaint.
I am 6'3" with a 32 inch inseam, male. I have made some day long trips in my Prius and found the seat most acceptable -- certainly better than our former Passat. I drive over 20k miles per year and so I think I have a pretty good handle on seat comfort. As for being able to see the traffic signals, that is not an issue here because we do not use traffic signals that are strung in the middle of the street. I think if we did, however, it would probably require some bending to view, as I am required to do when I drive back East in virtually any car. There are lots of times when I wish I could see higher mainly because of the view (in fact, I sometimes wish it had a sun or moon roof). Ted
oh... lol... the out of context quote strikes again! and get your mind out of the gutter. go back to studying or something
Considering I didn't even catch that until you pointed it out that makes me believe that F8L isn't the only one with a close "Mind/gutter" association!!:bolt:
6'2" Male 185lbs I do get uncomfortable for the three hour trips I take. No problem with the traffic lights I do wish the drivers seat could move back another couple of inches so I could stretch my legs
