To be fair to those who do not like to risk running out of fuel I thought we could create a Top 20 list for those who have great hypermiling skills to showcase their ability to achieve high mpg numbers in the Prius. I also thought that this list would help level the playing field for Prius c owners who do not have the larger 11.9ga fuel tanks the regular Prius owners have.

All models of non-plug in Prii are welcome and let the battle begin!

    Requirements:
    • A minimum of 500 miles must be driven on the tank being submitted
    • A picture of your HSI display with the your mpg, mileage and battery SOC level showing
    • A description of your techniques (doesn't have to be exhaustive) and conditions
    • Time of year
    • Tires: Size, model, inflation pressure
    • Must be a member of PriusChat

I wasn't going to post my numbers abuse I'd get knocked off the list too quick but since things are slow I'll add myself. I know there are others with much better numbers so post em up! :)

Nah. I was pretty pokey. My usual tanks have an avg speed of 42-47mph. Then again they are not 71mpg either. I'm currently sitting at 67mpg and 548 miles but I'm sure I'll have to drive with my girlfriend today or tomorrow and instead of climbing back up to 69mpg by the end of this tank I'll be lucky to hold 66mpg. Ugg I hate driving fast with the AC on. LOL

Thanks, bro! Maybe the games will put people in a competitive spirit. I just to figure out how to sneak away for 31 hours so I can pulse & glide my way to an 1100mile tank victory. LOL

^^^^ Not sure about a button on the car but typing the conversion in google works pretty well. They have a cool little calculator if you type in "km per liter to mpg"

Pokey? My average speeds are half of that ! o_O Often I can't go over 30 mph without hitting a red light after 500 feet of road. :( Just to drive without brakes (DWB) my average speed often has to drop to about 20 mph. My trip A odometer is currently sitting on +700 miles with the onboard computer estimating 71 mpg (for this current tank) but the average speed is only 17 mph!

I should be filling up tomorrow or Wednesday and post my current numbers, but here's my last tank for now. I dont care to push my car past 0-empty, so i like the idea of this list instead. perhaps there could be a 600, 700 miles club with without going past 0-E?
    -Actual mpg was 68.2

-No highway driving. Mostly my 11 mile each way commute. P&G whenever possible, no ac, windows down. mostly mid 80s and sunny. Maybe a day or two of rain.

    -Summer time
-Ran less than 10 miles on blinking light, 18 miles to empty indicated
    -OEM 15" wheels and tires

And that is why this list was created. :) I'm looking forward to updating your mpg when you finish this tank. Congrats on 2nd place!

Here's another entry, managed to beat my last tank again.
Finally had to fill up. My miles are a little off because I accidently reset the trip after I had gone the half mile home from the gas station and the 11 mile trip to work, so i added that in on my fuelly. No highway driving. Mostly my 11 mile each way commute. P&G whenever possible, no ac, windows down. mostly mid 80s and sunny. Maybe a day or two of rain.
    -Summer time
-Hit 0-Empty at 686 miles, so drove another 17 after
    -10.09 gallons
    -Actual mpg was 70.8
    -OEM 15" wheels and tires

Not my best, but it will do for now.

    • Keeping my highway speed at 60 mph or below. Driving without brakes whenever possible, not driving my car on the weekends (the short trips kill my MPG's...heh), Driving with Load (get a run going up a hill and bleeding off the speed as I climb).
    • Sept 30, 2011
    • Tires: OEM Yokohama Avid S/33's (15") with ~40,000 miles on them.
I do have a 70.2 mpg tank with my new Michelin energy saver A/S tires, however, I didn't get a picture of it when I filled up. I figure I'll have even better tanks over the next few years so I didn't sweat it a whole lot.

Ok, I got you guys updated. :)

David, you're safe for now but once you get knocked to 11th place you better get to work. ;)
