    We were "late early" adopters, picking up a 2010 model year (Canadian Touring model, with the 17" wheels and LED headlights) just around Remembrance Day (Nov 11) of 2010. The date of manufacturer on the door jamb says "08/09", assumably August 2009. So: strangely long in the tooth for a "new" car.

    It had under 10 km's (not K, just 10) on the odometer, and a dead 12 volt. We found it ourselves, wandering around the undercover lot, tucked in behind a lot of other vehicles. Asked if they could dig it out, took it for a test drive, loved it, closed the deal. My truncated avatar (will non-square avatars ever make a come back??) shows it just after the test drive, back in that undercover lot.

    Anyway, no issues other than the dead 12 volt, which was replaced before we took delivery. I think we're just closing in on 26,000 kms.

    Sorry to be so tardy getting to this thread! I may not have been the first Gen III delivered in Illinois, but I know I was the first ordered.

    I had a gripe about the cargo net, and it never was managed to my satisfaction. I stopped pushing and just gave up. Thankfully, the issue was fixed for the later early adopters. The ATP has been great, and I've never had a maintenance issue. I've been hit three times, and that has been a frustration (as well as a separate thread!).

    Love the car. I'm just about 59,000 miles and in my 40th month. Great car.

    Here's a thread I strarted when I hit 39 months and 58,000 miles, and I share a bit more about the car and the lifetime fuel economy.

    Just a little over three years, almost 36K miles and more importantly, three hard Alaska winters! Other than the typical annoyances and a few TSBs, nothing major to report.

    Still cleans up nice... it got a bath, clay-bar and a waxing this weekend. threeyears.jpg

    We hit the 3 year mark on our 2010 Prius (model II) on July 13. As of yesterday's fill up we've gone 58,200 miles, using 1200 gal. of gas and getting 48.5 lifetime mpg.

    We've done normal maintenance (oil & oil filters, cabin filter, new tires), but no repairs have been needed.

    The Prius has been a nice car on all dimensions. When we've run into questions, Prius Chat has been a wonderful resource!

    i think i late to this. mine was 5/18/2009. it has been like the previous 2. reliable with the exception of a few things.

    the MPG calculator which i posted about in July 2009 is waaaay off and its readily apparent that Toyota heard us and made adjustments because 2010's that came out right after that appear to have much more accuracy.

    the other thing; the 2010 is supposed to get better mileage than the 2006 and it does but its harder to do...no wait. that is not quite right.

    i have to say its easier to mess up the mileage and i am not sure why. part of it is that i dont drive it as much since i got the LEAF (LEAF is waaaay more fun!!) but even on the occasions i do drive it, i have to struggle to get decent mileage. on the previous 2 Priuses, 55 mpg was a no brainer. now its a big tougher. now we did do a road trip recently where i did 100% of the driving and got 58 mpg which was excellent considering we went thru about 25,000 feet in elevation changes, crossed into 3 different valley's including the grandest one (Columbia River Basin) in this area and thru 3 mountain passes and a cruise around the tallest Mountain in the Contiguous US

    aflon,

    What other service (if other than the basic oil and tire rotation) have you had done? I'm at about 64,000 miles with basic service. Been thinking about transaxle fluid change and throttle body cleaning due to other threads posted.

    My 2010 Prius II's third anniversary will be in late November. Have about 46K miles on it.
    Worst problem was my own damn fault, when I tore off the front bumper on a carport pole. I wish I could blame the pole for jumping out at me.
    Right now, I have a weird problem with the stereo , which you can see here Is there a problem with standard Gen III stereos out there? | PriusChat
    Got new tires a week or two ago.
    Otherwise, been a pretty trouble free car--47.1 mpg, probably because I drive too fast.
    Yes, I would recommend it and buy one again.

    3 years already but i blew through the warranty a long time ago (almost 79k miles now). love the car except for a door rattle that comes and goes and the xm radio occasionally not working; discovered there was a TSB about the issue but i was way over warranty by the time i found out :(

    After three years, I'm still using the NHW11 for commuting (it ain't broke) and my wife's ZVW30 for cross country and errands:
    • tires - unrepairable flat led to four, Sumitomo T4s bought at Toyota service center. Now have full-size spare.
    • tow bar receiver - worked perfectly on a 600 mile tow of 1,700 lbs including a small airplane
    • 1.5/3.0kW inverter - currently handles 930W but replacing the battery with an Odyssey PC925 and wiring should provide 1kW constant load plus over 1.5kW surge for air conditioner startup
    • transported motorized electric wheel chair - using ramps, the power base drove up the ramps and the removable seat fit on top
    • figured out how to tell when the last of gas is burned - the arrow displays on the power flow display go away
    • 52 MPG (not including tow) - 39 MPG @62-63 mph towing empty, pontoon boat trailer and 28 MPG @52-53 mph towing trailer with +700 lb airplane
    • AUX input works great with iPad
    • handles well at 100 mph and still gets ~22 MPG
    • affordable - when Alabama passed the "papers please" law I had to pay off the loan to register it in just my name
    I still have two safety concerns:
    • Accident avoidance, radar cruise control, and lane keep assist should not require 'leather seats' - had we taken this $10,000 total package, we would have been screwed when Alabama passed its "papers please" law. This option is only $2,000 so $8,000 is pure 'eye candy.'
    • If the engine does not run for any reason, including no gas, the "check engine light" should come on - we have an obscure but effective workaround.
    • Delivered with the floor mat unsecured.
    For utility and efficiency, the car gets and continues to have the highest marks. As for safety, it could be better.

    Love it! I'm so glad you conducted this experiment and let us know how much gas is left in the tank when the last pip starts blinking.

    Mine turned three at the end of August and has 103,600 miles on it. I love it, the fuel mileage average for the first three years averages just over 47 mpg, but over the last two months, I have gotten over 50mpg per tank as I have learned to slow down to the speed limit (in most cases). :)

    Aside from the thousands spent on sheet metal straightening and parts replacement after the three times it was clobbered by [other] errant drivers?
    No. I still haven't replaced the tires, but that is coming soon (I'm just about 59,000 miles). I've changed the battery in one key fob, but nothing else aside from oil & filter changes and tire rotations.

    No major repairs, no minor repairs. Only routine maintenance, a set of tires (soon will need a 2nd set) and a battery for one key fob.

    No kidding! I thought I put the miles on. 103,000 sounds more like taxi territory than "regular" use. That's amazing.
