Hello, I was driving last night and my car Triangle Warning Light and Check Engine Light Went on along with on the nav screen a car with a ! mark in it came on. On The info screen the battery level was changing fast from fully charged to just about empty. The car lost almost all power going about 42 miles an hour. I was able to pull to the side and i waited 10 mins then tried to turn the car on again. I was able to drive home and the warning lights were still on but at least my car had power. Does anyone know what could possible be wrong?

Your car's hybrid drivetrain is impaired and you will need to seek help from your local Toyota dealer's service dept or a competent independent specializing in hybrids. The problem might be a failed traction battery, inverter, or transaxle.

Well, i replaced the 12volt battery with an optima from auto zone everything went back to normal. So i drove about 100miles to the beach and the car gave out on the ride back. I had to have the car towed to a toyota dealership and they told me that the 12volt battery isn't compatible with prius and it shouldn't have been sold as a compatible battery. So i am having them put their battery in and they also told me that the water pump is cracked. Aparently the previous owner had the warranty done but the warranty isn't transferable so i am having to pay for that.
The lights that lit up on the car are the
    VSC Light
    The ((!)) Light
    Check Engine Light
    and the Master /!\ light

I will update when i get the car and drive around alittle more.

The Optima is not the cause of your car's problem.

Which "water pump" are you referring to?

If the inverter coolant pump had failed, that would cause the DC/DC converter within the inverter to overheat and stop working. That failure would mean the 12V battery no longer is being charged. As the 12V battery voltage drops down, that would cause the warning lights and the car stalling upon your return from the beach.

In the invoice that they gave me it says
    FP-Number
    16100-29157-83 Pump Assy , Water
    Price $95.24

It says its the engine water pump.
Also they are telling me that my Transmission Fluid needs to be exchanged which is $205.
    The 12volt battery was $203.02
The Drive belt is cracked and damaged which is $28.36
and labor for it all was $466.43

For a grand total of $837.57

The car seems to be running good now, just the price was so high.

Well the car did the same thing yesterday lost power lights went on, same lights. And i had to have it towed. They tow truck company towed my car a few inches while it had its brake on, and then again tried to tow it with it off, he turned it off and put the brake on.

Now they are saying the reason my car is messing up is because of the generation system. They said it does not have an alternator it has a generation system.

They called me today, they now said they have no clue what is going on that toyota does not support any cars with more then 100k miles, and that i should be lucky that they are helping me.
They said they would need to drive my car 200miles to find out what is wrong.

I called their main office and have now filled a complaint against them.

Fixed one yesterday which was misdiagnosed by a dealer and came from 98 miles away. Details coming soon to the water pump thread.
