just picked up a 2013 sienna that also has a smart key. i can't start my prius when both keys are with me. i have to put the sienna key on the roof to start the prius lol.

there's also some interference when i'm in the sienna - "key not found" but i can start her. here's a video i made in my prius

what should i expect from the dealer?

Get a small aluminum box to put the other key fob into. Then start car.

I believe this has been printed in the manual having two smart keys inside the car. Your prius smart key's battery may be weaker than your sienna smart key too.

inconvenience :( for now, i set the key on the roof to start the car. if i have to close the door while the engine is on, i have to set the key again on the roof. otherwise i'll leave the key at home.

oh? as in 2 smart keys in general? because before we had the sienna, my wife and i bring our prius keys and take them even when we are both in our prius and no interference. a co-worker did mention interference with his key and iphone together in his pocket.

i was able to stop by a dealership and showed a service rep what was happening. he was stumped, went inside told 2 other reps. came back outside and suggested to make an appointment with the toyota rep that visits them each month and see what he says. hopefully there's a better solution than the roof or leaving the key at home when we use the prius or vice versa with the sienna.

See opening, closing and locking doors section and go to "conditions affecting operation" of your owner's manual.

I too bought a used key fob for a 2010 Prius. I've taken it to 2 independent repair shops and 2 different Toyota dealers and none of them were successful in getting the car to accept the key. My fob had 3 of the four markings listed above on it: "FCC ID: HYQ14ACX", "IC: 1551A-14ACX" and "DENSO 14ACX" I had thought the important one was the FCC ID but maybe there's more to it than that. The used one has a grey plastic case rather than a black case on the one that came with the car. Just on a lark, I opened the both cases and checked the markings on the large black chip inside each. The one that came with the car was marked "2026" and "100201VC". The used one was different - "2026" and "130514VD" which may explain the difference. I guess it's back to square one on looking for a 2nd fob.

Did they reset the SKS when they tryed add the used fob? If not that's the only way to add used fob.
If you need more info check this post Successful SKS Reset using Mangoose cable and used Keyfob registration | PriusChat
