The exhaust (or rather the outlet) of the 3 fans comes out on the right side panel just behind the right passenger seat on the 2nd row seats. I checked there too but there was clearly no airflow.

Finally got around to checking the 12 volt battery after getting back from work this evening. Showed 12.89 Volts on the voltmeter. I checked the battery right after parking in my garage - does that make any difference?

12.89 Volts - is that okay or on the lower side?

    Hare Krishna!

It will read higher than normal in that circumstance.

Read it again in another 1.5 hrs.

Or, leave the car off, put your headlights on for 30 seconds. Let it rest for 5 mins then read again. If the voltage is stable (i. e. not rising) let us know what that voltage is. If the voltage is still creeping up, let it rest for 5 mins then read again.

Saw this post in the morning :(

The battery stood at 12.61 Volts this morning after about 13 hrs of being parked. Is that okay? Or should I put it on the charger overnight?

If that's without pressing any buttons or switching on, (IMNSHO) that looks good! It should pop up to ~13.8V when the system goes to "Ready" showing that the inverter is working OK! (…anything below 12.0V could be a sign of problems! ) - hope this helps - Wil ;)

That puts it at 62% SoC. The open voltage shows that the battery is reasonably healthy.
It never hurts to have the battery fully charged at all times, so why not? It won't do any harm.

How do you infer / calculate the SoC from the Voltage information? Is there a formula?

I checked again a few minutes ago after parking at home and leaving it running. Was in Ready and EV mode and the AC was on. Battery tested at 14.15 Volts.

    What does that tell?

That tells you the inverter can charge the 12 volt battery from the larger Hybrid battery. Nothing more, really.

It tells you more than it can charge the 12 V battery. It tells you that it is charging the 12 V battery. Further it tells you the car thinks the battery is low. Once the car thinks the battery is full, the voltage will drop to trickle charge circa 13.5 – 13.8 V.

@dolj - kindly explain how did you deduce the SoC of the battery from its resting voltage.

I have a 100+ mile trip today and a 400+ mile trip tomorrow. Hopefully the battery will get fully charged by the time I complete above trips and there won't be a need to charge the battery separately. Will check the Voltage after getting home tomorrow night.

It is based on the voltage for AGM. I found this graphic on the Battery University (I think) website:
    Pb:A voltage band (SoC).jpg
The top line is AGM/Calcium/Gel; the lower line is normal flooded lead/acid.

Mine is not an AGM battery - it is, I think the normal kind. But good to know of this chart. Thank you!

wondering if it's worth only doing 2 cycles with my battery that has a block .02v lower than the rest. P0A80 code, displayed MPG all over the place, and rapid charging and discharging while sitting parked. Pics and video with more info here: P0A80 but all voltages look normal? | PriusChat

I am self-employed and have already been stranded for a week, going on a week and a half. this has easily cost me over a grand in missed income and I don't want to sit here any longer than necessary, but if there's even a 10% chance I should do all 3 cycles, then I'll do it.

Two cycles will be enough to get you back on the road. Each cycle has a diminishing return. Around 80% of the benefit comes from the first cycle, an additional 10% comes from the second cycle, 5% from the third cycle, and so on. For best results we recommend three cycles, but it time is tight (sounds like it is for you) one or two cycles is enough to get you going again.

    Hi Jeff,
Recently I bought a Prolong Deluxe pack from you. I have a 2007 Prius with 147k.
I installed the harness and the test was ok with all the fans working.
I made filling phase and than I run first discharge to 134V. The discharger was idle, buzzer ringing, voltage at 151 and amp 0. Than I recharge and now on second discharge to 134V he stoped at 178V and amp 0.
Is this normal? Shouldnt stop at 134V and 84V? What should I do further?
    Please advice!
    Thanks.

As soon as the voltage reached 134V the discharger goes into idle mode. However, almost immediately the voltage starts bouncing back. I was there while discharging when the voltage reached the set value and stopped discharging and I immediately disconnected the discharger and connected the charger. However, in less than 2-3 minutes that took to do this the voltage bounced back almost 20V. This is normal and all batteries in decent shape will do this.

    Hare Krishna!
