Does anyone have a reliable source for danlatu’s bracket in nylon? I've tried ordering it a couple times and keep having my order cancelled.

Download his file and send it to an online 3d printing company. That’s what I did. Printing in nylon with shipping was slightly less than $50.

Who'd you use? Like I said, I tried a couple and they got cancelled. Kinda lame, I know.

kumbyall is really a stupid song, and not accurate.
Fossil fuels are NOT the problem. Do you know how much pollution and by products making a battery produces?
WAY worst than a gas engine.

Perhaps if you put that filter after the catch can there would be less chance of clogging since the oil/water
would stay in the can, or most of it.

Finally got around to cleaning the EGR circuit, intake manifold, the IAT sensor, mass air flow sensor, throttle body and plate. I installed the OCC too. Thanks to danlatu and his bracket. I'm getting a 1.5 MPG improvement so far. I can't believe how much collected in just 2 tanks of gas! 20180728_150721.jpg 20180728_151203.jpg 20180728_150721.jpg 20180728_151203.jpg

Years and years ago there was a program on the Discover channel that went through building a battery.
YOU can spend the time and do the research to find it if YOU want to, but I don't.
There are lot's of by products from a battery.

You asked the question so I thought you would have the answer to prove your point.

Sorry, but I can't remember where I've learned everything. I don't even remember what the show was or if
it was even the discovery channel, it could be something else. It was a show about by product of different things.

I just got same stuff on bottom of my OCC. 2800km driving on 20-30C temps on long summer holiday trip. Quantity was about almost one desilitre(google says 1dl is 3,3oz), maybe something like 0,7dl or so.
I was expecting more. Driving was lots of hills, speeds around 50-60mph. On some roads up to 70+(130kmh).
Whole family trip with 5 persons with fully packed car. Calculated consuption was around 5l/100km(some fillups 4,9 and some 5,1). 5l/100km equals to 47 us mpg.

Hi Grid, That clump was a piece of metal from the drillings in the catch can manufacturing. I suppose I should have opened it up and cleaned it before I installed it. This was the first time I emptied it. I would say it was almost pure oil.

Yes, that was the plan. It's the same concept as what danlatu did, just outside of the can instead of inside it. I'm actually leaning towards trying an Oil/Water Separator or Mini Air Line Filter from Harbor Freight. They're easy enough to adapt from 1/4" threaded connectors to 3/8" hose barbs.

Has anyone vented the valve cover ventilation to atmosphere?

I have an OCC installed, but I'm about to 3d print a new intake with no inlet for the valve cover vent. I don't think there will be an issue but I wanted to check here to see if it had been done before or if anyone has input.

This picture explains what I'm going to do.

hey everyone! thought I'd share some fun tid bits on my pos honda fit. after 400 miles of driving around town, 5ml of oil collected

I wonder if other makes/models out there, other than Toyota, will suffer the same fate as 3rd gen prius owners do with excessive oil collecting in the intake manifolds and on the intake valves

I have an odd phenomena: every so often I'll catch a whiff when looking at a visual. For example, the smell of ale while watching a pub scene on Coronation Street.

I swear I smelled used motor oil just now...

@evilchargerfan How do you like your OCC. I saw a similar model on ebay and wanted to see how you liked yours.

Is it easy to drain while mounted. I could tell from the image if it would be easy to turn the drain valve at the bottom. I like that it has a brass media that should strain out the oil and water vapor.

How is the inlet and outlet plumbed. I am assuming the outlet is inside of the brass media with the black rubber gasket.

Also is the clear part glass or plastic.

    Thanks

Thanks to danlatu and nutzaboutbolts for your great posts and videos, I just completed my priuschat 120000 miles maintenance, or trying not to blow a head gasket, I installed the same OCC, changed spark plugs, changed pcv valve (because your right there) cleaned intake manifold, removed and cleaned egr cooler (75% clogged) cleaned egr pipe and valve, plus changed the coolant unplanned but I drained it for the egr cooler work. That leaves you enough to do the inverter coolant too. I wish I could of cleaned the intake by the fuel injectors better but I was afraid of knocking to much back into the engine.
    thanks again guys!
