Hey guys, I see people mention newpriusbatteries here. Have any of you used his battery packs? Could you let me know how they worked for you?

Check his threads, I think some have chimed in. But they haven’t been around long enough for user long term testing

They work great for me <cough> <cough> :D

We've had tons of feedback. We've been selling to everyone for over a year now, and to some beta testers for a couple years now. The development kits years more again.

We've had taxis put on tons of miles in short periods as well. There is a Youtube video someone made about the box/install and there are reviews here on PriusChat as well as on our own site. All are completely independent. We now keep literal tons in stock the best we can and generally ship out same day or next day when you order.

I wish I could have gone for your pack. Unfortunately I'm on a super tight budget because I work for a non-profit basically for rent and covering deducted taxes.

It would be in my right budget, except the ECU was totally fried on this battery pack. I wonder what caused it, didn't seem like the sensor leads were on wrong. Kinda odd. I probably could have gotten the pack and a new ecu, but I needed a buffer--which I'm now using on a radiator repair. 20181106_131803.jpg 20181106_131823.jpg 20181106_131803.jpg 20181106_131823.jpg

Burned up battery ECU's are not unheard of. I see something like 5% of the batteries have corrosion on the ECU plug. The corrosion is more likely to happen in a humid climate. To see more check out this thread.

The battery fires at ECU sense connector thread | PriusChat

All of your battery modules could still be usable. A brand new wire harness costs about $60. Used battery ECU's can be found for under $100.

You could try Hybrid Battery Exchange, Hybrid Battery Exchange . He is in Oregon.

One final safety FYI. That burnt up orange plug you held without a glove still has over 150 volts present even with the safety plug removed.

You disconnected the protection circuit ground without pulling the plastic connector out of the ecu. Always pull the connector first.

Newbie here...Just bought a NiMH kit and I'm impressed. Real nice product. Question...This stopped me dead in my tracks. What are the corresponding voltages, assuming all bus bars installed, at all the ring terminal locations, ie V1 V2 V3 etc etc etc? I'm building a battery for a customer and don't want to blow up a ECU. Nice looking batt pack, can't deny that.

At the negative terminal (far far away from ECU) to the terminal on the back is 14.4v nominal. Every module is 14.4v. So measuring between the end negative terminal and the next module over on the same side, you're measuring 2 modules in series. Therefore 28.8v. Make sense?

Satisfied customer here on an 08 Prius. No problems after almost 10K miles, and the cylinder batteries actually cool faster than OEM.

Changed ours last year and can report absolutely zero problems. Going on 10k with the newpriusbattery and still working as new. It even increased mileage by a few.. Now on a good day we get up to 60mpg regularly. Hint: move the three temp sensors to the top side of the pack! While you have it out...All Good.

I just found online brand new replacement batteries for Prius, $1,600.00.
I do not have experience with it since I decided not to buy. I have just installed one I reconditioned myself, and working on the original unit which will become a backup standby unit. I think I'm getting the hang of it, and it's super low-cost! Just posting here so you all know there is a low-cost unused new battery option out there with warranty at NEWPRIUSBATTERIES.COM

Back a year later to report absolutely zero problems since the newpriusbatteries pack was installed. Add another 10K to the mileage since install. The only thing I noticed is every once in a while the SOC on the scangauge jumps to 100% then comes right back to normal, probably from vibration and a possible lose sense wire, so next time I'm working on the prius I will take a look and maybe tighten the screws on the sense wires, maybe all the wires! The HV fan never comes on high, although we went through all that last time and it was determined there was really nothing wrong with the Battery blower motor or associated circuitry. Just clean it once in a while since it supposedly runs very slowly most of the time and can easily suck in dust and back seat hair!

My battery is getting low too, how is everyone's experience now with this now that it's been 2 years or so?

Ordered replacement Prius battery pack from this seller on August 4, 2022 and was given an expected ship date of August 12, 2022. They charged the full amount to my card as a sale and not a preauthorization (despite having no actual timeframe to ship). I reached out to them on August 19 requesting a status update. Nick Vergunst replied on August 21 and stated I was 2-3 shipments out and offered a full refund. I accepted the offer of a full refund on August 22 and reached out again on August 26 to inquire about the status of the refund. The seller did not reply, so I had no choice other than to file a chargeback through my credit card. This seller has dropped all communication and I have yet to receive any confirmation that the transaction has been permanently reversed and credited to my card. Awful!

The problem is that the penalty that the credit card company charges the vendor due to a chargeback often is so small that it doesn’t matter to the vendor so long as there are not too many occasions.

Seems so many people are currently hell bent on getting new batteries that vendors can do as they please and ride the wave.

For example, how many other high priced things do you routinely pay for in advance with no firm delivery date?

That's one problem--they should not be taking payments for the full amount of an order they can't/won't be able to fulfill for six months to a year or longer. Either do a preauthorization to confirm the card is good, or take a nominal deposit and proactively refund it if you aren't able to deliver on time. I paid a $100 deposit for the truck I have on order.
