    I mean what size fittings/hoses/clamps I will need. I’m new to this, I’m cleaning everything out when I install and this will be the first time I open up an engine and do all my own work (my 2nd car, 20 y/o)

    The hose I'm using is 3/8" ID fuel line SAE-30R7 (SAE-30R6 should be fine too). It's commonly available from automotive specialty stores, for 1~2 dollars a foot. Get more than you need and cut the lines generous at first, fine tune later.

    A lot have used brass Pex splices. I used hose barb style, since that was all I could find on short notice. They are a pain to pull off though, if you make any revisions, very tenacious. I would look for the Pex style splicers, or blunt the sharp edges on the barb style. Both are available at hardware stores.

    Clamps you can also get at hardware stores, just bring along hose and test fit, if you're unsure about size. You can also get kosher automotive hose clamps, though they're a little finicky, getting the right size.

    What about couplings? I’m thinking of using the idea of cutting the original PCV hose in half and doing that. Two 3/8 couplings?

    Yeah, what I called splices. They're readily available at hardware stores. I used these:

    Oi! Thank goodness, I purchased two of these along with two 1/2 inch ones as well just in case (before you replied). They are technically called splicers on the packaging, along with 4 ft of 1/2 inch hose and 4 ft of 3/8 inch hose along with hose clamps! Thanks for your help!! I’m installing mine this weekend!

    BTW, you don't need to clamp any of the connections. They're plenty tight, and aren't going anywhere -- there's no pressure on them.

    Considering I’ve already purchased them, it can’t hurt, right? I noticed how tight they were when I was getting it ready earlier.

    If you are not concerned with visibility issues then clamp them by all means. There have been discussions about loss of warranty concerns when an obvious change has been made to the PCV system. Not using the clamps and putting the oil catch can beneath the engine as in the installation of Mendel Leisk makes the whole installation almost invisible. I am not sure if loss of warranty could be a problem in NC or not, but there have been several responses from Californians who say that it is there.

    it's not about the warranty, the californians have problems with the smog test, because you can't bring a catch can in line with carb (California Air Resources Board) regulations /
    so if you want to keep it installed, it pretty much has to be invisible /

    Mine is below the intake manifold, and pretty much invisible, even though it's polished aluminum. I think if I were to paint it mat-black, and take off off (or paint) the shiny hose clamps, it would be invisible.

    Mount it low and put it in a tin can:).

    Very tough to discern ;).

    And if they are lazy (or you know someone), you ain’t got nothin’ to worry about(y).

    At 90k miles - not sure what more to say. It allows for smoother engine operation and small boost in MPG - especially with the winter ethanol blended fuel. I make sure to add 1 oz per 5 gal every tank. If I forget - I get reminded due to the small but noticeable engine noise and vibration.

    I have tried it on other vehicles with positive results.

    100k miles from now, if I still have the car, I'll post my oil consumption rate and let you know if I've got the original fuel pump.

    I especially recommend it for an oil burner. Maybe try it and report back?

    Just installed my OCC kit today. Took maybe 30 minutes total from start to finish. I went from underneath by removing the entire splash guard instead of removing the intake manifold to get to the pcv. I used a new OEM Toyota pcv tube, cut it in half and used 3/8 barbed splices to connect everything together instead of trying to fit 3 different sized hoses. I only used about 6ft (combined) of 3/8 fuel hose. Used the recommended Ruien OCC. Put some #1 steel wool inside the OCC for more vapor catching duty and closed it all up. Car seems to run a little smoother, but it could just be my head saying it is.
