I thought the highest ownership concentration was in Oslo.

From 2019, just before I visited there: "Perhaps the densest area is Norway, the electric car hub that tipped into majority EV sales in the month of March due to the launch of the Model 3. Musk claims it has the highest number of Teslas on the road per person."

Could be. I almost never watch commercials but did see a GM Super Bowl commercial with Will Ferrell that hinted at that with an attempt at humor.

Thanks. Is the Prime's EV long enough to cover your daily drive?

As for my other post, I really wanted to know the details of your choice. I was just reported what happened when I tried finding them.

Only SuperBowl commercial I watched this year. Pretty funny. I would like more Americans to get competitive over being green... at least we have a new president who put us back into the Paris Accord.

I used to look at the Teslas longingly (they are popular in Seattle, but I don't have a tech salary) because I like the idea of an all-electric car, and we have a relatively clean power grid (#1 hydroelectric state) and #3 for cheap electricity. However, learning about the build quality problems and service problems faced by Tesla owners... well, I'm glad I went with reliability and safety. That's the most important to me.

I don't care if people think Primes are ugly and weird; I think my electric lady is unique and stunning! That's how I realized I had to have one. Every time I spotted one in this color in a parking lot, I couldn't help staring at it. Blue "Magnetism" indeed. I went off on a mini rant to my sister the other day, wondering why white and gray are so darn popular as car colors. They're so BORING and white looks so terrible when it's dirty. There are a lot of dirty white Teslas driving around in my neighborhood. Sorry, I went off topic.

I want a prime. Supposedly they are only exclusive to choice states/regions. I'm sure when ICE becomes somewhat obsolete, it'll be the hybrids that will reign king before EV. EV lacking due to battery capacity.

Keep your eye on the hybrid vs plug-in market share. I expect plug-in market share to eclipse hybrids in short order, if it hasn’t already.

If you want a Prius Prime, you can order one now. If your dealer says that they can't order one, ask about inter-dealership exchanges. We once had a Toyota brought up from LA to a city near San Francisco because the model we wanted was not available in Norther California. They swapped a Camry for a Corolla. Yep. Someone really wanted a Corolla that bad. :)

I suspect that you are right, and that PHEV hybrids will be the stepping stone to BEVs. If nothing else, people will learn that a smaller battery is viable for most people and thus costs will fall.

There was a rather long thread on this topic, which I am unable to locate. I will attempt to summarize until I can find it.

Hybrid market share peaked many years ago at, as I recall, 4.19% of USA new car sales.
Plugin sales in the USA are approaching the sales of hybrids currently between 2%e and 3%.

As more companies start making more EVs I expect the sales to increase much faster than those of hybrids.

    Reasons:

Hybrids sales increase only when gas prices go up.

Plugin vehicles have the fuel sipping benefit plus many others. Thus, their sales increase when gas prices are low, and increase even faster when gas prices go up.

From what I heard Prius Prime is just an expensive gasoline aging machine. People fill the tank once or twice a year and the gas goes bad and owners don't care that they have bad gas. I thought gasoline was for poisoning the sky not poisoning a Prius?

Only some owners do this, not all of them.

When I get a PHEV, I'll be doing numerous trips far beyond their EV range -- beyond the range if any existing EVs, in fact -- so will be turning over the gas regularly. Numerous other Prime and Volt owners are in this category, but they are not the ones asking questions about fuel aging.

Well, PriusPrime is currently much cheaper than even the base model Gen4 Prius. My switch from Gen3 to PP increased mpg from 52 to 85. Yes, 85 mpg includes charging the battery daily which reduced my gas stop to once in a month or two instead of every two weeks.

well - yea, if you look at a teeny populated country - you get a higher percentage of Tesla / EV's ... or you can look at China with a lower % per citizen ... but a larger quantity of Teslas/EV's. But since the OP is in the US ... and not realizing it'd confuse anyone? That'd be on me.

I use mine on electricity 99% when in town. But I've also taken it to 10 states, 95% on gas.

I was talking about particular cities, not whole countries. Is Oslo a teeny populated town? I don't think so.

I'm used to seeing many Teslas in and around metro Seattle, but Oslo had a far higher density of them. That wasn't as true in the rest of the country, at least in the portions we visited.

This was driven in part by tolls in the core city, from which EVs and bicycles were exempt. So bicycle density was also very high, far far above Seattle and Portland.

I'm just going to assume you're referring to an ETF when you loosely use the word market. Otherwise you're referring to various companies/sectors. I would like to know some names. NIO has been thrown around. But I do understand the rest of what you're saying and it does make sense.

That's just bad husbandry. If you know you're not going to use the gas like that then you should ride on E or 1/4..

    It's a hybrid complex/mental health issue.

And we thought not needing to change our motor oil during a year of covid was stressing us out...
