Bisco you can probably identify this issue! I have a 2011 Prius and on January 20th of this year, this loud hum noise started http://link.www.ridesharedriver.blog/Prius_hum_noise. That is from an instant on the "Shotgun seat" While I am driving on Interstate 275 in Tampa, FL. The noise is very loud in the car. When I get over to the left or make a left turn the noise goes away.

      Thanks,

      Rideshare Sean

Hi Bisco, Glad you're still around. Ordered Prime over a year ago for marathon trip across the country. Selling 2017 Prime when get new car. I'll try to sneak by and say hi. Visiting bunch of family in N Carolina, Florida, Texas, God willing and creeks don't rise, health holds out, hurricanes & fires stop, & crazies stay off roads. Take care, play my music, and enjoy yourself,

Those regen observations to me makes it seem even harder to get back into the usable EV range. especially on multiple smaller mounds like the ones around here, after running out of EV range all together. Was how I wanted-it to read.

HI Bisco. So because I'm busy and a super planner. IF the day comes in the next 2 years where my GEN 2 gets totalled and I need a car in a hurry and cant get a BEV I might have to get a PIP. what is the last year of the Gen 3? 2013? I know Gen 4 it became a Prius Prime. and instead of spending 26K on that I'd rather spent 36K and buy a Bolt. So If I do buy a quick PIP with a 19K budget what would you buy?

Elon is always late...nothing new. What I don't like is that the M3 has no spare donut tire at all. I plan on buying a $489 complete wheel tire jack and lug nut tool for mine. Teslas eat tires. like 30K miles if your lucky and about $1,000 for a new full set installed. Something to consider. I

will install my own L2 charger in the garage for just the cost of parts so that will save me money to spend on tires down the road I guess. Im looking at EAP but don't want to pay for FSD. What are your plans?

Get a 15 if you can, that was the last year and has the updated pistons and rings. Also late 14, if you get the right vin.
Earlier than that you might want to check the head gasket

no. I thought I recalled somewhere that you might have ordered one. My memory must be fuzzy. No worries. I'm stilll researching federal and state tax credits for the 2022 and 2023 years. Some states offer more perks then others.

Turns out now that I live in Kansas they don’t give you a tax break or discount when buying a BEV. Wow But Colorado is following Cali in all its legal thinking. So I’ll give up my$4k tax write off and have my ability to buy a high capacity magazine for my weapon systems. However even with a prior 10 year registered CCW permit holder. I had to retake the CCHL

Hi bisco! Do you have any suggestions for an inexpensive cat converter brand for my gen 2? Ours was stolen, as you saw on my thread about it all. I've tried the search engine here, but some product links no longer work, and some cat's had bad reviews on Amazon or Ebay (they don't work after a few months, etc.). We're in VA, so no restrictions like CA has. Thanks for any help! Roger

Our 2004 Prius is exempt from emissions requirements. The safety inspection does not have a bar to meet for converters either. Our 2008 Prius just went through safety and passed w/ an aftermarket converter (idk what brand it is).

Update - I'm getting the Yita Motor cat, recommended by TMR-JWAP, who apparently has put a number of them in. I'm sure I sound silly, but I am very excited to have found one that I can be confident will do the job! Thank you for your help and for listening; it's been a big PITA for me, with having to get up to speed on the whole issue.
        Cheers, Roger

@bisco I scanned a Prius a d it came up with c1203 code. What do you think could be the issue. The abs light is on. The break is very had to depress and the brake is not working well. Hope to hear from you soon

Hi Bisco, You had given some answers previously regarding the engine failure on a 2012 Prius V in the Seattle area. The car had the cold soak rattle a handful of times from 1/17 to 9/19 when the engine finally threw a rod. The head gasket leak wasn't diagnosed until late in 2018. I watched the videos from Gasket Masters on the cold soak rattle. Do you have an idea why the symptoms might be so infrequent.
      1. bisco
        bisco
the cold soak rattle is kind of generic. it can happen on startup in cars with a good head gasket. but it can also be a symptom of a headgasket beginning to deteriorate. you have to do immediate diagnosis to prevent possible damage
