I was wondering about that, thanks for confirming it!

That web site does tell you what that version was intended to fix. That's the benefit for looking there. You have to go all the way through the site to the point just before you launch the download and that's where it says what the changes are. It does have some value.

I agree, that has value, especially if you are looking for some particular problem to be fixed!

So I subscribed to TIS to actually download the repair manuals over the next few days...
It seems there are no PDF-based manuals anymore and it is all HTML-based, so will have to deal with doing something like what was suggested in this post:

Edit: That's not entirely true at least for the Electrical Wiring Diagrams, there are PDF's of that one, except for the few introductory pages.

Toyota TIS download tips | PriusChat

The KWI file that is able to be downloaded from the Entune Premium Audio System (base model - Panasonic) on Toyota's website in the OP is indeed the same filename -- 13TDANNA-DA11_0140.kwi that is referenced in TSB 0103-16.

The base download URL for that file linked from Toyota's website is interesting in the sense that it holds other kwi files. Normally these 'calibration' files are not able to be downloaded using the base $15 2 day subscription to TIS, however I was able to download the 16TABDNA-AA01_0002.kwi file referenced in TSB 0236-17 using the base download URL and that filename. This file is applicable to the 11.6" screens and is the one that the dealer installed when I went asking for it shortly after it was mentioned as available on a different PriusChat thread.

So presumably that is the file that Toyota will eventually host on the OP's link once it fixes its website, because there are no other newer TSB's referencing Entune post July 10, 2017 as of today.

What would be the biggest benefit of using the Entune smartphone app vs updating the vehicles software over time?

Now I'm getting confused. I thought the Entune features on the car don't work unless you've made a Bluetooth connection (or, on older cars, a USB connection) and logged in to your Entune app (on your phone). At least that's how mine works. And assuming that's correct, then you do updates on both ends - updating the phone app as iOS/Android updates become available and updating the head unit software, as Toyota releases updates.

You will get updates as soon as they come out. If there's an update, it will tell you when you connect with your phone.

Some Entune features work over HD radio, like traffic. Some are via connected phone with a data plan.

The only updates the end user can do are software audio updates over the air or via downloaded files and USB (it's the same update, just different application method) The hard core main system firmware updates have to be done by the dealer. We never know when they are available. They tend to be bug fixes for reported problems and only applied to vehicles having specific symptoms.

What I was saying earlier about the Entune app is I've noticed that when there is an Entune Phone App update, there is almost always a vehicle audio update as well. Not always, but more times than not. So if I get a phone app update, I also go out and ask the vehicle to check for an update manually. They are not tied together, it's just something I've noticed in their timing.

    Good to know - thanks.

  9. I just tried the link to get the Entune update from Toyota, and I received the attached error message.

Yeah, it’s been doing that (or just kicking you back to the selection page) for more than a month now. I’ve complained a couple times.

Looks like all the updates got removed from the site. Does anyone have the update file for the 11.1 screen?

They never posted one. I'm guessing the one they pushed over-the-air in the past couple weeks (assuming your phone has a data plan and you have it connected to the car) is what they were going to post online.

Oh this is for the Entune update and not a actual firmware update to the core system?

I did get that update over the phone. I know there is a update for the core system that I was told the dealer must install which resolves a lot of issues. Guess I will make an appointment for that

Right. As someone here recently explained to me, firmware updates have to be done by a dealer.

The over the air updates are only for entune apps, the .kwi updates you used to be able to download from the securedp.toyota.com site were actual firmware updates for the audio head unit and updated everything other than entune apps. The very same files the dealers apply through the same process of plugging in a usb with the file on it.

The update for both the Panasonic and 11.6 screen is still on the AWS servers with the securedp.toyota.com folder structure.

Their webpage/backend was just not working correctly and they seem to just have bothered to replace it with 'no updates found' rather than link to the correct update... go figure. Since this is one of those things that if the link gets published in the open it will (probably be) abused and shut-down most likely, I'll just leave it at that. Let's just say you can still figure out the base URL if you check on other model years on the OP's link to download updates and use the filenames I've mentioned in my previous post in this thread to download the correct update. :)

Well, that worked like a charm - thanks! So, your earlier post mentioned 16TABDNA-AA01_0002.kwi and the significantly larger 13TDANNA-DA11_0140.kwi. Any guidance on which to install? Or both? And if both, in any particular sequence?

16TABDNA-AA01_0002.kwi is the one for the 11.6" screen. I never saw the file size for the one that was uploaded in my car by the dealer, but the one available for download seems to be a rather small update, only about ~7.2 MB when I downloaded it earlier. PDF link for that update is here: http://docdro.id/xPz8BxB

The other 13TDANNA-DA11_0140.kwi file is for the other radio (Panasonic) in the base model -- googling that file name came with the specific TSB 0103-16 PDF: http://media.fixed-ops.com/Toy_ServiceBulletins/sb0103t16.pdf
