I live in Emerald Isle NC. It is 41 degrees right now. We had a freak snow/ice event here and i did not touch it for 6 days. finally got above freezing yesterday. In the 50's. Rest of this week will be in the 60's. it's bizarre.

Is ready state when the start button turns green? When i put my foot on the brake it does turn green. Only the inside accessories work though. Heat, radio, lights all work really good.

are the headlights bright? if so, it probably isn't the 12v battery. to me, if the ready light is green, it should start.
maybe an issue with a blown fuse or something like the dome light.

I forgot to say that on the display the pic of the HV battery is 3/4 full of bars. How do i check the fuses? is it easy to tell if they went bad?

But the 12v goes in the rear. how could he disconnect that one? I found someone with a code reader in the neighborhood through a local site called Nextdoor.com he said he can come over with his code reader. Will post the codes here

did you watch the video in the thread i linked?
if you watched, you would understand that the switch is in the rear, next to 12V battery.

Thre should be three places for fuses to check, under the hood, drivers side under the dash and some back by the battery. Check your owners manual.

I am familiar with your area of North Carolina. I remember when there were just a few houses on Emerald Isle back in the late 60's.

It's built up now. Still not a lot of full time people like me. I am lucky that I can work from home - no good jobs around here unless you are a fisherman, own your own business, or work from home like I do. I have maybe 3 neighbors out of 20 that are here full time in the off season. Great for many reasons except when you are looking for help with something like a car lol

my negative terminal cable is loose - you can spin it around. does not seem to make a difference for the accessories and lights though. Could this be affecting the HV system? I saw this on another thread. I called Toyota near me and this guy quotes me 700 dollars for a new harness says that is the only way. I laughed and called the dealer I bought it from in Raleigh and they knew right away and it is 49 dollars. they gave me the part number and i called the guy here back and gave him the number and he stammered and said oh that's weird. He would do it for 31.69 do you think this could be it or should i just have it towed over?

if the lights work, that should not be an issue. do this, remove the negative terminal cable, keep it off for a few minutes and press brake pedal while off. then reconnect again, tighten with pliers, and cycle off/on 3 times using the push start button (pressing brake pedal). report back with results.

A loose negative on the 12V can affect just about everything. And that would explain a LOT since it had been taken off and re-installed with the new battery.
