I'm so glad that isn't the case in a gen 2!

At highway speed, Park and Reverse should do the same thing, go to Neutral with the double beep warning. Though I speak only for Gen3, with the hope the Gen2 did the same.

But you should also be able to (mostly) power the car off at speed too, by holding the Power button down long enough (3 seconds ???). This is an essential safety item to shut down the propulsion system in case of another outbreak of runaway engine incidents. This may change steering and brake feel by loss of power assist, but will not disable their basic manually operated fail-safe functionality.

After a certain model year (2012???), repeated stabbing of the Power button should also shut off the car. But this was implemented only after the Runaway Toyota Fiasco, so won't apply to Gen2 or the first half of Gen3s.

No issues to report. However, my Gen 2 wouldn't even power down holding it. It just beeped at me. Probably to protect the hybrid drive and the motor generators? Idk

It was a general Toyota hysteria that struck about 2010, and was similar to the runaway Audi 5000 scare of 1988-89. Statistics very strongly suggest that the bulk of incidents are pilot error, but there is no hard proof that all of them are such.

As many have said, hitting the start button accidentally won't do anything, you have to hold it for more than 3 sec.
I remember there were many videos on how to stop a car in case the throttle got stuck during the Toyota floormat recall. Check youtube.

I have never heard of this before anywhere. Hitting the park button puts the car in neutral when travelling above certain speed.

The car definitely goes into neutral. It does not power down and I have even pressed power while driving and the car doesn't just turn off. I put my muck boots on so I don't get any on me.
