I recently replaced the clock spring in the steering wheel, put a new 12v in, replaced after the replacement the VSC light has come on and stayed on. Any tips would be great.

Happen to have any OBD2 codes (DTCs) that you could share with us?

Yeah, I have a P0016, I've been burning oil but I've read that it's normal for an older Prius. I get normal mpg of about 41-48 @ 70mph, but I do have a timing chain just in case, I recently received a vvt solenoid. There's no rough idle. Im also pretty sure my combo meter is going out, idk if any of that is relevant to the VSC light.

How many miles on this vehicle, and which OBD2 scanner brand/model/app are you using to scan for codes (DTCs) ?

Given the VSC, your current OBD2 scanner may not be fully compatible with a toyota hybrid. If you want the best in class for scanning, many prefer using the 'mini-vci' cable with a copy of techstream (dealer technician software) on a windows device to scan/test/diagnose with. If you have an OBD2 bluetooth adapter you might try an App like Dr Prius, Hybrid Assistant or Torque.

The combination meter can be a DIY fix, or get one with a lifetime warranty : Prius Speedometer Replacement

If you also set a DTC P0016 then read these threads first before spending a bunch of money on this vehicle.

Where did you get the clockspring that you put in- was it from Toyota or was it aftermarket? If it was aftermarket did you transfer the steering angle sensor from the old clockspring? Gonna need codes from the ABS system.

I got the car in '14 with over 300k, I've replaced battery cells before, so milage is unknown early but I drive like 200 Miles a day.

I have Dr. Prius and torque they don't give me anything besides P0016, I get p1121 but then it goes away so idk.

I have a replacement combo meet and a vvt solenoid.

I got the clock spring from a towed '08 gen2 at a wreaking yard. I still have some dead buttons on my steering wheel.

If you have a VSC light on, and the code reader you are using is not giving you trouble codes from the skid ECU, you still have the option of using a jumper to get the codes blinked out on the dash lights. It is less information than Techstream would give you, but a lot better than having no idea why the light is on, and the best part is it requires no tool other than a short piece of wire, so it works no matter where you might be when a trouble light comes on.

I used a jumper when I had an old Ford Ranger, how do I do in a Prius?
