How long does it take your gen5 prime to charge from zero range? Something wrong with my battery?

range is not a fixed number, it is changeable. the epa is a specific test, you shouldn't expect any particular range, there are too many factors involved, only some of which are under your control.
you can get a tool to measure kwh charged, and that will tell us if your battery is healthy.
some public chargers also report kwh as well.
in all likelihood, it is your espectations that are the problem.
there are lots of threads in the gen 4 prime forums that cover this in detail.

 

It's an imperfect world out there, so when you feed a computer more accurate information - it gives you a better approximation. It's as simple as that......

Are you going to be equally upset, when your DTE (distance to empty) rolls over to zero and the car doesn't stop dead in it's tracks or would you prefer it to continue to run?

If you think you have a problem, take it in for service - It's under warranty......

At the 12 amp setting - Charging time from empty is about 10 1/2 to 11 hours at 120 volts and 4 1/2 to 5 hours at 240 volt level 2.

There’s also an 8 amp setting that extends the 240 volt time to about 7 hours.

I haven’t used the 8 amp much at 120 volts because I believe it is inefficient and takes about 17 hours.

 

Li-ion does go through a breaking period where it doesn't reach full capacity. perhaps this the case. If so, it will clear up with use.

There are some questions to go over though.
Are you doing trips completely on EV? Maybe the EV mode portion of the battery isn't completely drained.
Where are you, and do you start the charge as soon as you get home? Climate and the battery's temperature will affect charge times. The link in post #7 was seeing a 9hr charge time during a NJ summer.

 

Charging time can vary based on outlet type, temperature, and battery conditioning. 9:20 sounds normal for a Level 1 if conditions are ideal. For range concerns, you can ask the dealer to run a battery health report or use an OBD2 scanner with the Dr. Prius app to check cell balance.

In Belgium, with type 2 charging cable and my Prius 5 on 8A, it takes 7 h20 in the winter (+/- 225 V to 230 V mains voltage) with an empty battery and I needed 12.1 KWh of electricity. (measurable socket)

Now that my PV produces much more electricity, the Prius is at home on Max (= 10 A) and with charging cable type 2, this now takes 5 h20, (230 V / 245 V due to the many PV installations in the street) with a total consumption of 11.4 KWh

On a public charging station with 16A it takes 3 h20, with a consumption of 10.8 KWh
I rarely use it, because it is usually more expensive than using petrol.

My consumption at speeds lower than 45 miles/h is now 10.5 KWh / 100 km
(no rain, during the day, no air conditioning, 19 inch tires)
Average with motorway journeys included = 11.5 Kwh, where the Prius also switches to HV mode

With a full battery I can now also drive 100 km in sunny weather. (in winter only 68 km)

 

Take this with a grain of whatever as my experience is with a 2019 Prime. I believe the Gen 5 is pretty similar, except the controls may be a bit different, and the capacity is greater for the Gen 5.

The range is dynamically calculated. My wife doesn't get the same EV range as when I drive it as she mainly takes it on the highway and I drive around in town. Those highway speeds (here it's 80 MPH) take more out of the battery per mile. Also, I use studded winter tires and there's sometimes a bit of wind in Wyoming that also take away EV range.

When I first got the car, I couldn't charge it as I have a freezer on the garage circuit. When charging the car at 12 Amps, the freezer would kick on and it would trip out the garage circuit breaker. I've since installed a dedicated 240V 50A outlet in the garage. That makes it where I can use the full 12A, 240V charging rate without issues. Just for comparison, I get my 25 miles in 3 hours (4 hours if I turn it down to 8A 240V, twice the hours if I use the 120V charger - you'll need to scale that to your Gen 5)

They are my charging history from my Toyota app.
You can see from the public charger which is a level 2, it was so mich faster and is the recommended. I believe the manual says this. I am deciding now if to upgrade my electric panel. The rest is from home. You can see at the normal 110 it takes like almost 7hours to go 64% to 100% or more importantly, 3.7kwh. Below, it takes almost 4hrs for 1.7kwh. On a level 2, was like 1 hour for almost 3kwh. But bear in mind, most public chargers will not recharge 100%. Many go 80%, some 85 to 90%, and even fewer to 100%.
Anyways, back to charging at home. Are there other devices like air conditioners on that same circuit? It takes considerably longer to recharge my car when I also run my AC and gaming computer on the same circuit. My breaker panel tripped when a second AC was turned on lol. Which reminded me of that whole electricity and stuff.
odb2 and dr prius app Can go some way. But likewise, check your household circuit too!!! The Toyota App is nice in many ways, but a turtle moves faster than the way the info refreshes.
