I bought the car new Dec of 07 so 13+yrs. Retired 9yrs ago and slowed down on driving, a lot since Covid.
Anyway I'd been sticking my head in the sand ignoring my lit up dash.....as it seemed to run, until it didn't.
I replaced the 12v battery, my 4th, south Florida is hard on them. It started once.
After reading through some threads in here I've come to the conclusion it's the hybrid battery.
I was lucky to find a place local with Reconditioned ones for 890 and 200 for install with 12 Months or 12,000 Mile Warranty. New was 1190 with 4 Year or 50,000 Mile Warranty.
Seems good, right? not like I've much choice, it'd be hard to sell dead in the driveway.
    Great forum

    welcome!
idk if it is good or not. new batteries are around $2,000., reconditioned ones of unknown quality are iffy at best.
i hope yours turns out to be a good one!(y)

    Welcome to PriusChat!!
How many miles do you currently have on the Prius?
Please clarify that the new battery is actually NEW for $1190+install. Understand that most of the purveyors of fine HV batteries (cough) don't have a shop or physical address that they work out of (or are willing to share), and you trying to collect on a warranty can be tricky at best.

Regardless of what is offered or promised, most sellers fall back on the 30 feet or 30 second warranty, whichever gets them further.

Without installing a USED battery for $1090, what is your asking price where it sits, as I'm interested.

    FYI : you're moderated until you've posted 5 times.

    New in name only…
$1190 for a new what? Newly reconditioned? Newly on the market after removing from other Prius? Not believing that it’s a new OEM and certainly not installed.

Oh I apologize new is 1990.00 . The place is exclusivelyhybrid located in Lake Park.
The place has stellar reviews on yelp for what that's worth. So are we implying that rebuilds
    are no good?

Oops l have 130,000mi on the car. This area is loaded with Prius and so it has its fair share of mechanics, a little competition helps
keep the price down, I assume.

Looks like the NEW pack that exclusive 'resells' is from NewPriusBatteries.com | Home - which is a fine replacement for OEM. @2k1Toaster normally retails that same HV battery for 1600 (all inclusive), and you would be left with your old battery to sell for a profit or gift to the installer.

So exclusivelyhybrid sells at $1990 + the installation of $200(?) for a profit of $590, and they get to keep your old battery as a "core" or you pay them $500 extra. Not a bad gig, especially if you can sell the old core as rebuilt for 890+200 install.
The "rebuilt" option is just another "old used core" that someone else turned in, it may or may not last any real length of time.
I always take yelp reviews with a grain of salt, though you will likely be fine.

Whichever way you go, make sure to clean the HV battery fan during the installation.

How much for the car "as-is" ?

Well I can't see the milage but It was around 115000-130000 possibly less. The cars been in
2 accidents. One light tap in the front and a good pop in the back. Both times it was repaired
in a quality shop through USAA. Here are a couple of shots taken today. You tell me what its worth.

Thank you everyone for the replies, keep them coming. There seems to be a growing trend here, no one suggests the rebuild.
I talked to Greentec, nice people, but they're in Tampa and would send a mechanic here so that jacks the price to 2757.50.
Although I did notice their quote listed the new battery at 2250, online it was 1750 returning the old batt. That may save 500.

Yep, it looks like they raised prices charging for installation
    Like everyone else I guess.

They will install while you wait with appointment. West Palm to Tampa round trip for a day is a possibility. If they do it in their shop they used to do the install for free, maybe now it’s discounted?
@PriusCamper has recent good experience with them in Prius elsewhere apparently from his posts.

Dang I'm a bit confused, if NEW is remanufactured why not buy the rebuilt? Thank you Alftoy for that link.
Will these cars sell or trade in this condition? I ask because of SFO's offer.
All this being said I'm leaning back to Exclusively Hybrid, at least they're local.

Are you wanting to fix the battery and sell the car? How much are you asking without fixing the battery?

If you are considering Exclusively Hybrids for $1990 new cylindrical style, they look to be using Ennocar cylindrical batteries.

    I just posted this thread

alftoy I have no idea what to ask for a dead car! The main thing that Exclusively Hybrids has going for them is they're local.
Thanks for the link, I think :)

Just go with the cheapest option, $890 plus install.

if they're local, with their own shop and a good rep, i would go with a warranty as long as you want to keep the car
