Maybe. But I just get the Toyota parts and don't even think about it for a year or more. If you know of something better, share it with the group.

    Just drive it.... ;)

I got an air filter with active coal loaded in it. It removes a bit of pollution smell from the outside or smells when recirculating cabin air. Found it on amazon. It was a bit of work for the fit in the prime. Had to realign it and modify the support. Bit at the end, i made 20000mi so far with it and it costed 25$ on amazon.( Prius cabin air filter 4th gen). At least i paid for something that depollutes.

    Love it.

I hate those big diesel trucks: one rolled by while I was walking the Shiba the other day, for the next half a block the air was redolent with diesel fumes, and the poor dog had a sneezing fit.

Should do like in europe... No polluting trucks allowed in town with high population density. Can t believe those old refurbished trucks engines are legally polluting like from 1970 in USA. Who voted that?

I looked up the law in my state and to be illegal a coal roller has to produce smoke you can't see through for more than 10 seconds... That's alot of smoke and it's so wrong. But what do you expect when you have a country so strung out on lies and too brain dead to know truth that a minority of the lightest skin ones can make a president out of a Real Estate criminal incapable of speaking in complete sentences with the emotional maturity of a three year-old? Can't really expect much at this point? But at least the house of representatives is no longer going to be run by people who think eliminating the science is the best way to solve air pollution / climate issues.

Pollution isn't necessarily visible either. A diesel will roll by, no smoke, but the air reeks of raw diesel. Similarly, the occasional vintage car: unburnt gas reek, I think the clever-clogs restorers set them to run rich; I don't remember cars being that stinky back in the day.

I suspect our memories of the stink back in the 60's and 70's were accurate and that these days old cars from that era, as well as most motorcycles from all eras still stink the same stink, it's just that it's alot more noticeable cause there are times when you don't smell it in between times that you do. Back in the day it stunk all the time, so there was no true frame of reference.

My new charcoal Toyota air filter made in Lower Slobovia, doesn't STINK anymore.

But Los Angeles California is STILL a polluted mess! Highest in the nation? Make California Great Again....
    it stinks!!

And fine all the hybrid owners for not buying enough gas. Thank you Dems!':ROFLMAO:

I went to the Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise a couple of times. Picture setting in traffic, four lanes each way bumper to bumper and almost 90 degrees with cars from the 50's and 60's spewing out all that exhaust.
Our eyes were burning. We have came a long way from those days.

We still have original batteries in my wife’s 2012 Prius V fobs.

One guy said he never has a battery in his Fob? He just holds it up to the start button to start the car. Whatever works. :)
I need to try my little key in the door lock occasionally. They say the lock can get corroded and freeze up.

The mechanical key doesn't open the doors mechanically like a conventional key but rather it just operates the solenoid as the keyless system does so there's really nothing to corrode etc.
Turn it one way and the doors unlock turn it another way and the windows go down.
    It's an electrical switch.

Just tried it. I don't have it customized to open/close windows, but the door unlocks fine. Thanks.
I need to get an extra key made. Put it on my house key ring, separate from the Fob.

I think some owers hide a batteryless Fob in their Prius?

That is a change from all other Prius cars then. They have a mechanical key which may or may not activate an electrical switch too.

My new charcoal cabin filter seems to be working good. I don't smell any odors or smoke coming in the car.

I may have misinterpreted the diagram. Position 1 and 3 could be mechanical while 2 and 4 are electrical. Actually I hope it is that way otherwise how do you open the door if the 12 volt battery in the Prime is dead?

I recently did 30K miles maintenance on my 2 years old PRIME DIY. The maintenance schedule calls for changing both engine and cabin filters. I went cheap on the cabin filter for the non-charcoal OEM filter at half the price. It still cost $18. Almost twice expensive than non-OEM charcoal filter. As it turned out the original filter that came with the car was premium charcoal filter which cost ~$40 ($51.90 list price) parts alone. I will see, if I smell any differently.

As I've said multiple times in this thread, ya'll are getting over-charged on this... The prices for these things are ridiculous is you aren't a bargain hunter, but $12 or less for premium quality charcoal filters on ebay...
