2018 Prime making high squealing noise from the dashboard area

Hello,
My 2018 Prius Prime plug is starting to make intermittent semi high-loud squealing/whining sounds coming from the dashboard (more towards passenger side).

I noticed this sound
- will occur regardless of whether the car is driving or not
- will occur whether AC is on or off
- more noticeable when I’m turning the wheels or braking, but still occurs when driving on in a straight direction.

I DID notice that this sound when I was sitting in the car after turning it off. This sound happened simultaneously when the engine is doing one of it’s “powering down” arrangement of noises, which lead me to believe it is related to the system.

I wanted to ask on here to see if anybody has come across this issue before taking it to the dealership to get it checked.

yes, the AC was off during the time when one of the intermittent noise was happening (power button was pressed off during one of these times)

 

definitely not the audio. When this sound comes on, I would turn off the stereo and it would continue making that noise. Therefore it would happen regardless if the stereo was playing or not

 

i can try again with the climate control fan off to see if the noise continues. I will keep the thread posted.

 

After driving around for a couple days, it might be the fan, like you mentioned.
There are a couple of times when the sound starts up, I would turn off the fan and the sound will “abruptly” squeak and stop a second after pressing the off fan button.
I also notice that the sound does not come on if I keep the fan off for a period of time.

I haven’t been driving as much these last few days so the sound isn’t happening as often or as loud as the video I posted. But I was able to test it when the sound is in action.
