    Hi Friends
Recently I replaced PCV valve with a after market one (Intermotor PCV477) in my 2006 Prius with 113k miles. I bought it from advanced auto parts.
Question: 1. Has anyone ever replaced with that brand?
    2. Is it good quality compared to OEM?
Have driven 500 miles since then and have not experienced any issue so far. Car is running just fine. My concern is and I am little bit worry about the part as being after market and what if it suddenly fails. Thank you

1 - the original part probably never failed, so it probably didn't need replacement.
2 - you'll be fine with an aftermarket part, no worries

    Welcome to PriusChat!!

If you're concerned about quality issues regarding aftermarket parts, why not just buy OEM parts and not worry about it?

There are places where you can get aftermarket and not worry about it.

There are places where you can get aftermarket and should worry about it, but it's ok.

There are places where you can get aftermarket and shouldn't

There are places where you can get aftermarket and mustn't

There are places where you cannot get aftermarket and have no choice

A PCV, in general, falls into the first category. I mean.... don't go getting the cheapest, grossest Chinese POS you can find - but pretty much any PCV valve you buy at a parts store will work. It's basically just a check valve - a metal ball inside a plastic sleeve with a spring

Replacing the pcv valve is only half of the job. If you follow the hose that connects to the pcv down to the throttle boy and pull it off the throttle body you may find that hose connection there is clogged with gunk.

You have to thoroughly clean the throttle body with choke cleaner.
Inspect the 2 hose ends for cracked ends thats common too.

    Basic maintenance.

Thanks for explaining it so nicely. Really appreciate that.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes I did cleaned throttle body as well when I replaced pcv valve.

Thanks for the reply. Yes you are right. I just realized it after reading the PC conversations but it was too late since I already had it installed. Anyway I would definitely prefer to use OEM replacement as much as I can. Thank you again for the feedback.

A quick search for "PCV torque" here on PC, yielded this : https://priuschat.com/search/191426725/?q=pcv+torque&o=relevance

And the second result from the top, was this thread : Small crack on engine near PCV Valve | Page 3 | PriusChat

On the 3rd page of the above thread was a post by @Mendel Leisk : Small crack on engine near PCV Valve | Page 3 | PriusChat

Which also contains a couple of PDFs, and buried within is : Torque: 27 N*m (275 kgf*cm, 20 ft.*lbf)

Looks very nice to me. Spray some lubricant on the butterfly spring on the outside of the TB and then when you put the air cleaner box back on make sure you tighten the sneaky 10 mm throat clamp under the box.
