    Does anyone know if the Apexi smart accel throttle controller any good? If anyone has one installed how do you like it and how is the acceleration with it installed?

    I wonder if it might be a lot easier to buy a performance-car in the first place, than to buy all the performance add-ons afterwards.

    . I own a 68 Mustang with a 429 Super Cobra Jet with 1100 horsepower at the crank so I do have a sports car, lol. I just wAnt instant throttle response so I don't get I to an accident merging into NY traffic or cause a traffic jam waiting for a big enough opening to merge. Road rage is bad here. The Prius is really bad with throttle response and I know that's because it has the ETC. I'm not trying to make a sports car just making it perform like the way a car should. I use this car for work so I need the gas millage but it doesn't hurt to make it look cool at the same time. Other than that I totally love the car. If I lived somewhere with miles of country roads and no traffic I wouldn't care about throttle response but NYC driving is brutal!!!

    This complete kit (throttle control module/harness) costs about the same as just the throttle control unit (APEXi):

    Weapon R I Throttle Controller Booster Boost Selectable | eBay

    It doesn't list the Prius family, but Subaru/Scion/Toyota/Lexus are all compatible. Installation looks to be very easy and straight forward with the inculed vehicle specific harness. Contact the seller, it should be compatible with the Prius line as well.

    And this one has a picture that looks identical to the display unit on the previous link above, but the seller is in Malaysia. Good feedback rating though. The Lexus CT200h is listed as compatible. You should confirm with the seller that the harness is included though, as it really isn't clear if it is or isn't:

    Does the Prius 'c' have a "power" button ?
    I personally do not have any use for it, but some people like the throttle mapping.

    Well then, know that stomping the pedal to floor gives the same throttle response no matter the mapping -- including the doodad you are thinking of buying.

    A piece of advice: avoid messing around with EV or P&G in the city. Nothing like a low traction battery SOC to make the car feel sluggish from a stop.

    I was reading up on these things and it seems like everyone who has bought one says they fail in about a year and they have to pull over and unplug it and put the factory plug back together. I would have to call the company and see what they say about this

    That's not accurate. Garm has personally tested these and verified that they do make an extremely noticeable difference as far as throttle response time on the C. Instead of the hesitation, it's instant like it should be.

    thanks Ztanos, that's what I wanted to know. Did Garm ever say if this ever fail on him? I think I'm really going to give this a try but now I have to see what brand to get

    He did just a trial run for a product in his store. I don't think he kept it on long enough to do a full life-cycle test.

    I may not have been clear, I was saying that the fuel pedal fully depressed will cause the same car response regardless of the mapping. So just press the pedal quickly ;)
